ha actually bought a complete off pinkbike that had everything on it for $600 and then i stripped off all his parts (including a nice dropped Mar 4x) on my frame.
if you want a set of shuns you can hit me up; i get a kitchen distributor discount and get 40% off. i suggest you go use a Shun or two first....their handles are very hit or miss for everyone.
My parents got me a new 2.9GHz Macbook and a bag for graduation/birthday!
My previous pair of these were starting to look a little under the weather, fortunately I found them in this amazing colorway which forced me to instantly pick up, so lucky!
Whats wrong with spesh? A buddy of mine interned with them for a while and they seem like a solid company. Stumpys/demos/statuses are all great bikes. I prefer Giant though.
I feel like people buy specialized for the name. They do make quality bikes but for a higher price than other companies with the same quality. Correct me if I'm wrong.
their designs are pretty boring, yes they make good bikes, but you pay a lot for the name, and just because a bike is a spec doesnt make it a good bike. They make carbon bikes with fucking sora components, I mean are you kidding me? Their very high end stuff is nice, but you can get nicer stuff for less most of the time. I'm not much of a mountain biker, but I do sell bikes for a living, and have worked at one of the largest specialized dealers on the west coast, don't get me started on their road bikes.
I worked at a small little shop that sold jamis bikes. They have some decent quality bikes for like $1200. They also have some insane road bikes. Some guy bought a $6,000 carbon fiber road bike and drove into his garage with his bike on top. One of the most fucked bikes i have seen, but Jamis sent a new part to the guy for super cheap. From my experience they have great service.
ya there a little expensive, but its great to support a company like them. They treat their employees amazingly, and make great products. I would love to see more companies like Chris King, i would glady pay more for a quality product that comes from a local company. my hubs, bb's, and headsets have lasted multiple bikes. the headset on my dh bike is 11 years old and still strong.
From what I've seen, they do seem like a pretty good company. I actually almost bought a Jamis singlespeed 29er last year. It sounds like their customer service is on point for sure from what you said.
But I just don't get how they justify the price difference between these. I realize that a couple of parts are different between the two, but they kind of even out. The jamis is $700 more.
Not all carbon is equal, I can almost guarantee the jamis is made with nicer carbon. That is something most people don't think to check, what carbon manufacture is supplying for the brand.
You're right, the Jamis uses T700 carbon, compared to T600 on the Giant. I know that giant does all of their own carbon stuff, but I don't know who is doing Jamis' carbon.
I don't really understand the whole $700 difference because they are fairly even. I would only think there would be a couple hundred difference only rather than the $700 dollar difference.
