they're rough for the first few weeks but the straps get a lot looser and they stop cutting up your feet as much and they end up being super comfy

if breaking them in is really hard then consider getting the hemp ones but they dont last as long

Hey, I always see couples buying dogs and having no idea what they're in for. It's not fair to the dog. Dogs are EXPENSIVE! If something goes wrong it can cost thou$ands. Not to mention couples split and the dog goes to one of them who can't look after the dog, not because they're jerks, but they have no time. I'm not trying to be a dick, I mean no offense. However, if you're in med school, do you really have time to properly care for a dog? I hope it's not an impulsive decision that the dog will suffer from down the road. Anywho, good pick.

Well, while I appreciate your concern, it's not like it's something we haven't thought about, but we're in our mid-twenties, not teenagers, we've been dating for a lloonnnngggg time, and we'll likely be engaged in the next few months. We've been living together for almost a year. We have both grown up around dogs and know how to train them well, and, if needed, our families both live within 20 minutes. We've discussed it a million times over the past few months and decided that we can handle it. I'm not worried.

Dogs should not be mass produced and customizable like cars. Breeding is so fucked up and wrong especially when dogs that don't sell are killed or "disposed of". Rescuing vs buying from a breeder iss a true reflection of ones character

Sometimes. Pure breads are nice though because you have an idea of the dogs character. And at least in my family, we have to have hypoallergenic pets, so muts are not an option

My mom runs an animal rescue and most of the dogs that she gets are dogs that breeders have abandoned. Case in point my Beagle Chihuahua that a breeder left in a rubbermaid box at a very young age because no one adopted it.

I've seen some of the most "viciously labeled dogs" go from little assholes to great loving pets just by how you treat them. Dogs aren't dumb. Treat them with respect and love and you will get the same back.

Hypoallergenic is for sure a much better reason for buying from breeders than buying some "pure bred, beautiful, loyal, whatever bullshit" they sell you on.

there are PLENTY of hypoallergenic pets in rescues.

I'm not gonna get too fired up about the buying from a breeder v getting a shelter dog debate cause it just opens a massive can of worms, but I hate when people use excuses like that for not getting a rescue. The shelter I worked at almost always had at least one hypoallergenic dog on the adoption floor at any given time, it was very rare that we didn't. Also just doing a simple online search for certain breeds will bring up so many dogs in shelters

Oh, fuck off. If I'm a terrible person for wanting a purebred pup from a strong pedigree with veternary certifications on eyes, hips, elbows, etc that I can raise as my own, train, and keep as a part of my family for his/her entire life, then so be it. I'm not going to feel a single second of guilt about not adopting a rescue mutt. I feel bad that someone else was too irresponsible to handle a dog and decided to get rid of it, but that's not my problem, nor my responsibility to fix. There are plenty of people out there who are willing to adopt. I am not one of them. Sue me. I suppose I should also forego having my own children in the future because there are dirty orphan children with no families living on the streets, right? A true reflection of one's character my ass. Get off your high horse.

Look if I want a dog I'll get whatever the hell I want, ok? I personally adopted my dog directly from a person before he went to a shelter and I can identify with what you're saying but that's your personal choice. Nobody else has to adhere to the same pattern of thought by any stretch of the imagination and it's not cool to berate someone for buying from a reputable breeder if they want a show quality dog.

As if buying a dog from a reputable breeder made someone a pompous douchebag asshole. Right. Nice.
