An idea for ski movies

So a lot of people have had similar complaints about Eye Trip this year. Mostly people are saying they wanted more Tom, Will, Henrik, Parker...whoever they like the most. So here's my idea, inspired from this thread, [URL]https://www.newschoolers.com/ns/forums/readthread/thread_id/563947/cat_id/1/[/URL] I think the big film companies should only use about half there skiers in a film. Then have full segments of two years of material. Like one year don't have Wesson, the next he has a huge banger segment of two years of filming...

Thoughts?

if they can get enough shots. i am happy with the quality of ski movies today.

my counter for op; instead of having less skiers, they should just make the movies longer. like 2,3, 7 hours instead of one. that would be cool.

For the past decade, the film company I work for has wanted to cut the number of skiers in half. The biggest problem? They aren't just athletes--they're your friends. So basically you're telling your friends they are no longer needed. Not an easy thing to do.

well no, they'd still be on your team, the difference would only be there segments would be a lot better.

I definitely see the problem with sponsors not being stoked that there riders weren't in a film every year so it wouldn't work because of that, but honestly I'd rather have a good segment every 5 years than a meh segment every year.

thats a pretty good idea but the sport is goes too fast,you'r saying that they should do movie in 2 years.next years i bet there will be a lot of triple and the other trick will look gay beside of them,thats why they do a movie every years

why is everyone hating on this? I think it's a great idea that I've had myself before. I've always thought that ski movies shouldn't be shat out on an annual basis. The quality of movies would be so much better. Ski movies aren't webcasts, they're fuckin movies. The sponsor argument is silly. I know I'm going to get hated on for making this analogy but look at the regular movies for example. Sponsors don't drop a movie because it's not set to release the same year.....

I mean, That's It, That's All took two years to make and it's widely regarded as one of the best snow sport movies ever, and it only focused on just a few riders.

It works with a film like Fully Flared, as skateboarding has been around long enough that the level of even just a certain rider doesn't change all that much over a year or more. Same case with That's It, That's All; it's not so much that the level of snowboarding isn't growing fast, it's that Travis Rice is a legend and always has been the best at what he does, so his level of riding even from a season ago is still extremely impressive.

I can't really think of a skier who could film an absolutely bangin part last year and have it hold it's own vs. a part they would film this year.

I'm definitely a fan of the idea of having less riders in a project, getting to dedicate more time to shooting with them (ie. Royalty, Idea). Obviously fatbastard proves a very legitimate point, when you are on the scale that he is talking about, large film companies support a lot of people and cutting them out isn't taken lightly. Hopefully in the future there will be more room for projects like this.

very stupid idea...the best idea for a ski movie will forever be RealTime...the way they put it together as they showed how they got shots for an entire year, not always concentrating on just one skier. puts being a pro skier in perspective.
