Hey NS. I went and looked at MSU last spring. It looked pretty cool and its in my price range i got to ski bridger and have heard good things about big sky. but one thing that i noticed was that it was kind of a sausage fest. im just wondering how hard it is to meet women here and party do stuff like that, or is it pretty much just ski every day or get bored really quick. Im not very out going and im pretty quiet so im kind of worried that if i go here ill just being some loner that just skis by himself every weekend.
No way dude. If you ski and you are a nice guy you will have a posse of buddies that are impossible to beat. I'm a freshman this year and I can't complain about anything. I have plenty of friends and I have had such an easy time slaying the breezies. Great time up here man. PM if you want any more info.
^I just need to figure out where they go outside of school. Being on campus and being at the mountain or downtown is like visiting two entirely different places.
Well, Man is in the name ... BozeMAN. And a common nickname is Mantana. Last I checked the statistics for MSU was around 65-70% Male. I can't remember the exact figure, and that was about 5 years ago.
That being said, it depends on where you are. On the mountain you will see no girls. Downtown you will see girls, however their attractiveness may vary and they will be a slight minority. I can't vouch too much for the downtown scene though, it may different now that the R and Slegion are gone. On campus it will depend on you major. If you are an Engineering student, expect to only see girls outside of the EPS/Roberts buildings. Other majors will fare better though. Parties near campus are the best place to see a fair ratio of attractive girls. Parties are very hit and miss, it helps to be friends with people that have a house and throw parties a lot. Don't expect to see many girls if you hang around in the summer. Almost all of the college age girls don't live in Bozeman year round. But if you are there in the summer, the place to find the few still there are floating or downtown.
Oh ... and avoid KO's club ... those girls are all in high school.
The legion re-opened. Also according to MSU's website during the fall of 2009 54% of students were male. Anddd there are girls on the mountain.... the coolest girl I know shreds harder than 90% of the guys I know. :)
Wow, it is down to 54% now. My statistics were old, and that could have been a down year. I'm glad the Legion is back, it makes my heart warm to hear that. Although I'm sure it isn't the same without the cloud of cigarette smoke hanging in the air.
And saying there is no girls was an exaggeration. I know there are a few. I skied with a few here and there. Its just you probably shouldn't expect to go up to Bridger to pick up chicks. Big Sky may be way different.
As Bozeman and MSU continue to grow, I'm sure it will continue to get further away from its reputation as a huge sausage fest. Haha.
that makes me so sad. The legion isnt nearly as gross as it used to be. I miss stepping out of my shoes there because they were cemented to the floor from semen and whiskey
ok so im really looking at going to U of U next year but i got into both of them and am having a really hard time deciding. so if you really think that MSU is a really sick school and the place for me to go i would love to hear why
i know nothing about u of u except its mormon country, so you gotta be careful.
MSU is pretty sick. best skiing in the state, and is a lively college for sure. its a great place. i guess it just depends on what you wanna do in school not so much the life of the college?
Currently going to school in Buffalo, NY. I live just south of the ADK's.
Buffalo sucks, I want to get out of here.
Applying to U of U, MSU, and a place back near home.
What's the word? I'm a civil engineering major, looking for a pretty good school, academically, and want some skiing. I'm pretty sure both have good skiing, so lets here some more good shit about MSU
for reference i plan on majoring in mechanical engineering and both school seem to have really good programs for that so its mostly just a choice of were i would rather spend the next (hopefully) 4 years of my life
plonk? No thanks. I'm too much of a cheapass to roll to classy joints like that. I'm more of a "stay at the bar-muda triangle until power hour and then wander downtown blacked out after that" guy
Bozeman sucks. Go to U of U. Way more snow and way more girls. Any decent looking girl in Bozeman who does anything outside has 10 guys waiting in line to be with her.
Ok so i just applied to University of British Columbia as well. so how does that school compare to the other two? sorry this isnt really about Bozeman any more but i didnt really want to make a new thread
