is anyone a vegan here? i went somewhere the other day and all these vegans were there trying to convert me. i understand that the mass production farms are mistreating animals, but how about the organic farms? i asked the guy working and he said that organic farms are basically the same thing as mass production, just not to the same degree of atrocities. i think veganism gets a little rediculious though, i mean, they told me you cant wear silk because the silk worms are harmed in the extraction of silk, but for gods sakes people, they're freakin worms!

your retarded, look at humans, if we didnt have weapons and such, if we were animals in the jungle, what our bodies are capable of doing, we are made to eat vegatables, and fruits, we have 4 canine teeth, we are not built to eat animals, i was vegan fro a year or two, not by choice, but most vegans arent against silk, just fucking psycos, and "organic" meat products and stuff are just free range animals, not caged, and dowsed (sp) in hormones to make them grow faster, have you ever tried real organic fruits and stuff? they are much better, and those people must have been animal rights activists too, im not sure, but i dont think most vegans are vegan because of animal cruelty and shit

oh, and soy and nuts have more protien than most meats, and why do you think that all carnivors eat only herbavors? because of what they eat, green food with live enzymes and shit, and im not vegan anymore, im mostly vegatarian, and eat fish and stuff, but ill eat meat if its in front of me, my parents just dont cook it

Veganism is not healthy, though i'm not opposed to the principles behind it. But we need cetain nutrients. Veganisim is a bit like saying I want to live like a plant and live in Sunlight and CO2. Some organisms can do that(green plants) others cant.
For humans: Certain amino acids are only found in animal derived products. We need these. and cant sythesize these. No Soy or tofu can provide these.
If we were cows or other plant eating animals we wouldnt need these and could live on plants alone

yo, i'm a vegetarian, well not really i still eat vego cheese and drink milk but i think if you have the will power veganism is wicked. i just don't have the will.

The dude from propagandhi is vegan and hes muscly as fuck, thats for the dude asking about muscles and tans etc.

Its a really cool idea and way to help out in a world full of shit. but then again your health is more important than anything else.

anyway there are people out there who are fruitatarians or breathatarians who only eat fruit fallen from trees and some people (apparently) only breath and drink water.

Its a way of life and a different upbringing and we have no right to judge or condemn.

^ this is so amazing. but some pokemon nerd (dont lie, i know your out there) should comeup with a one syallable pokemon instead of "charizard". it needs to be one syllable long, and char-i-zard (if im pronouncing it right) is 3. but bahahahahahaaaaa that is going to be stuck in my head all day

My only real problem with vegans is that people think it's healthy, and although it can be healthy it's really hard to make sure you're getting a balanced diet. Becoming vegan is a decision that your physican should help you with, and not enough people see their doctors about it.

my vegan buddy tries to convince us that 'there's one drop of puss in every cup of milk', and all of the bacteria that grows in meat or whatever... i don't even know, but i do know that the benefits of a well balanced diet outweigh the negative effects these minor impurities have on our bodies.

There's nothing wrong with vegetarians, but it seems to me like being vegan is a) generally unhealthy and b) a gateway to a serious case of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD).

There was a guy at my high school who started out as a vegan, but eventually he got so weird about it that he wouldn't even walk over the footsteps of people wearing leather shoes. Obviously this is a rare case, but seriously...

It just seems kind of pointless to me.

Another thing that pisses me off is "vegetarians" that won't eat any meat except fish, not for health reasons, but because they want to be trendy animal rights activists but they ar

If people want to be vegetarians or vegans, so be it. To each their own. But don't try to spread you're propaganda about how unhealthy meat is. And being that I grew up on a farm, I've seen how cattle and other animals raised for slaughter are treated. For the most part they are not abused, because an animal thats under a lot stress will have poor weight gains and have poor meat quality. And thats counter productive to what farmers and butchers are trying to accomplish, and therefore doesn't make any sense.

My diet is going quite well this week. I feel great and I'm getting no sleep. I've had a lot more energy but I think it's only because my vegetarian diet was shitty and now I'm actually eating really well... I might stretch it another week for fun!

I personally think the idea of vegan is asinine (vegetarians to a lesser extent as well). Despite the "principles," you are only hurting yourself by depriving you body of necessary nutrients. But, I guess its a matter of what the individual values. Their life, their choice. Call me self centered, but I prize my personal health over a few cows.

so i watched a micheal moore movie a couple days ago (roger and me is what it's called) and this lady killed a rabbit with a pipe and skinned it. it was pretty horrific so i decided not to eat any meat that isnt farm raised like cattle.
