GoPro Surf Mount

hey ns, I was wondering if anyone on the site has experience using a gopro surfing? ive seen many edits of people using them but i guess they have a special head mount for it which i dont have. has anyone tried using the regular head mount that came with the camera? if so could you tell me if it stays on well and wont fall off because they do sink and I wouldnt want to lose one surfing
