2010 Nordica Zero

First off a little bit about me.
Hello, my name is Cam and I ski in the East coast. I am an ADVANCE TYPE 3+ SKIER that skis everything. but, what I'm looking for in this future pair of skis is a ski that can handle park, groomers, powder,moguls, trees, steeps, legitimately everything. I am 14 6'4, 250 pounds. i like a ski with a medium flex.
Would these skis suit me?
How durable are they?
Does anyone have any reviews?

The Zero is an amazing ski, i have been on them the last two seasons and have this season's on the way. As far as a ski that does everything really well, you hit the jackpot.

I'd hold on there for a second. Judging by your body type, you might be too big for the 184 Nordica Zero, I've skied them, I'm about 6'2", 170lbs, I found them too short for an everything ski.

Can I suggest some skis that are longer and would be more suited for your body size?

K2 Kung Fujas. 133-102-127. Size 189.
Liberty Helix. 125-105-122. Size 187.
I've skied the Helix, it's really similar to the Zero, in flex and everything.
4FRNT Turbo. 134-108-126. Size 189. It's got a some rocker, I've heard alot of good things about it
Volkl Gotata. 137-106-122. Size 186 or 192


Just some suggestions. It's just my opinion, you might find the zero too short.

How does Nordica measure their skis beacuse a 185 atomic patent felt like a great length for my skiing on a daily basis. I dont get that much pow so this is more of an all mountain park ski that can easily handle the pow when i get it. I am also used to skiing 181 salomons so these would prob feel great. if i dont get these it is between the 192 scott punisher, the kung fujas, the liberty helix and the line blends.

I don't really know how they measure them...Sorry I can't help you there.

There are a couple reasons I say look into something longer.
1) The Zero is a symmetrical ski. So you'll probably mount them center,this will make the ski feel very short. It was the only downside to the zero when I skied them.
2) You're a big guy. You should be able to handle a long ski for an all mountain ski. There should be no problem handling it.
3) As much as I know you're used to something >185, the longer ski will give you a lot more stability when you're charging or cruising. Trust me on that one. I can ski a 178 probably, it'll be fine normal wise, but when you really want to go fast, you can get a wishy washy momentum going. So longer ski = greater stability and control.


So look into the Punisher's, Helix's and Kung Fujas. I've heard great things about all of them. Defiantly more suited towards your skiing.

As for Blends. I've owned a pair. I am a little bit smaller then you, but I go really hard on my skis. I found the Blends were easy to work and everything, but they weren't really built for what I was skiing. By the end of the season, they we're lifeless. A lifeless ski isn't the funnest thing to ski on.
So I moved up to a 189 Surface One Life as my ski for last and this season. It was amazing, stiffer, longer, so much more control in everything. Everyone saw it the first day I was on them.

thank you for your help. i will defintaely check out all of those options. anyone else know anything about the zeros, helixs, and punishers? does anybody know how much early rise is in the 192 punisher?

Rudager is right that the 184's are going to feel short and it's all because of the symmetrical shape of the ski. This ski is stiff enough under the foot and has enough life though that you should be stable on it. Also, i know this sounds weird but after talking to the rep about this ski and where to mount it for more of an all mountain feel i mounted mine -2cm from center and truthfully it did wonders for the stability of the ski. But yes i agree that it is going to feel short.

The other one that i might suggest is the Dynastar Slicer, brand new this year but very well made, super snappy, and very stable. They make this ski up to a 188cm. It's also well priced.

stick with the Zero, Helix, Turbo or the Slicer.

No offense to K2, but their skis are very poorly made (i'm going to get tons of shit for this one) but if you're a big aggressive skier you might as well get heli-coils right off the bat.

ya the k2's were last on my list as i have never been too much a fan of rocker. i do a lot of butters when in the park. do the dynastars, helixs and turbo's have soft tips?

Can't say really, if I remember the Helix's, it's a pretty good flex on the tip, not super soft, but soft. I may be wrong though, I rode them once.

I find tip rocker to do amazing things for butters, it's like cheating. My One Life's are stiff as a board, but the amount of rocker in them, I can butter 3's and 5's like crazy.

ya the tips on all of the these skis are softer, the Dyna's are interesting because the glass lay up is different, it's layed up like a leaf spring in your car, thinner glass in tip and tail and thicker glass under foot, it gives amazing pop.

I hate to be a nag, but I'm going to strongly suggest a bigger ski... I haven't heard of any issues with the ski durability. It's just how they're going to ride with your body size.

probably should have mentioned this much earlier but i ski park about 30%-50% of the time and the rest of the time im in the trees or carving on groomers

If u are skiing park only 30 to 50 percent of the time then u don't want a park specific ski

I found a pair of Zero's for $420 new and cant find helix's for less than $500. Does anyone know of any deals floating around the internet?

haven't skied them. I've heard people have them come apart.
I've also seen and heard of them being bomb proof.

Anyone with 4FRNTs that can help him out?

you'll be fine on the Zero's they have more backbone than any of the other skis mentioned. Also, i have two bodies that also, ride the 184 Zero that are both over 210 lbs, i know that isn't quite your stature but both are very aggressive skiers and don't have problems.

Thank you very much. I will probably go for the zeros because i can get them much cheaper than the others and in my eyes they make the most sense.

they are not too bad weightwise and the swing weight isn't too bad. I have them mounted with fks 155 and they are moderately heavy but hey it doesn't bother me

I ordered a pair of Nordica zeros and know I need some bindings. I am thinking of getting peak/mojo 15's, sth 16's, ffg 16's, and px 15's. I want to spend as little as possible but still get the best binding I can. Which one should I get?

He's 4 years younger than me, 2 inches taller and almost 90 lbs heavier than me...


ANYWAYS. Hope I didn't insult you, I love you.

I'll go out and say STH 16. Burly binding, I am still using mine from 4 seasons ago, and my gear takes a lot of beatings. It's the 3rd ski that they have been mounted on to.

Do you know any thing about the px 15s because they are like 190 with the right size brake where the sth are 230 and have the wrong brake.
