Soundcard problem

Hey
I have a problem with my sound card on my dell studio xps 13, i cannot play of any music or sounds, even when i use external headphones or speakers.

please help me!

i think it`s the sound card, because when i try playing of a song on spotify, I get this message: there is a problem with your soundcard. Spotify can`t play of music.

well if you have a sound card, it could be your motherboard fucking with it. THis is from memory, since I have a laptop now, but go into device manager and you need to disable one of your sound drivers(the one on the motherboard.) it should be obvious, but if not, try one, then the other. That may fix it, but without really knowing the symptoms, not sure...

So i tried disabling my soundcards, but they are still not working, should i download a soundcard from the internet?

yeah try reinstalling drivers. never hurts! Does audio work on other programs? Maybe the programs audio is configured wrong.

no, the audio doesn`t work at all, so i should just try reinstalling them?

Bump!

still not working, can`t figure out what`s wrong. in the device manger it says it`s working properly, but i can`t play of any sounds or audio, please help a fellow newschooler.!

I have the same computer and have the same problem. I bought a pair of USB speakers and they work until I can get dell to come and fix it.

I did some tinkering and I'm pretty sure it's a software or firmware issue. I booted to linux and my internal speakers/headphone jacks worked normally. Did yours come with a pre-installed audio controller program? Mine is called "IDT Audio." Today or tomorrow I'm going to try uninstalling it and see what happens.

Well if you have touched it recently it may be fried do to ESP....if not try clean booting it and then re booting the software for it
