It might be dead to suburban kids who think they are hood now as opposed to being punk, when in all actuality they are neither. But punk is never really dead, just not in fashion with fickle trend followers. When you decide it's cool again punk will be there.
im not saying that. all im saying is that there tons of bands that still punk/hardcore music that constantly tour, put out records and keep it alive. yeah no ones really gonna touch bad brains or black flag but non the less there are still A LOT of really good bands that tour the country constantly, you just have too look harder.
even some of the old bands from the 80's are still touring and put on great shows still(cro mags, agnostic front, sick of it all, underdog i could go on and on)
I actually lost my virginity at a bad religion show in a bathroom hahahhaa. i am going to see them again on october 8th with the circle jerks at riot fest. i am so stoked and there new album is great. im stoked to read greg graffins new book too
how so. bands are still putting out really good music and while it might not stand up to the classics, well thats why they are classic records. they will never be duplicated.
all this said i still generally listen to records that were put out in the 80's and early 90's. im just saying that saying "punks dead" is a false statement.
FUCK YEA.
Punk is alive and well
well.. for the most part.
there is so much amazing underground punk that you'd never hear of all over the place.
I have a radio show that I mostly devote to local and Canadian punk from current punk bands and you'd be surprised at the numbers and how many cd's get sent in to play.
and there are always punk concerts going on in town with bands that you'd never hear of that just kick so much ass and put on amazing shows.
