Do any of your schools do this? Mine is going to do it for the 2nd time next year. Seems pretty crazy.

It's a thing that lasts for about a week, and it's supposed to show how people get killed by drunk drivers every 15 minutes. A certain group of people get chosen to go to intense mental therapy for a few months, and then on a certain day two cars get crashed behind the school, supposedly by a drunk driver. The person who acts as the drunk driver has to actually spend 2 nights in jail. Then, every 15 minutes, the whole school goes outside to see another person from the group that went to therapy get pulled out of the car wreckage. They have to play dead, and they have all kinds of makeup and stuff to make it look like they have real burns and serious bleeding. They get zipped up in body bags and taken away by paramedics, and they have to get taken out of the wreckage by the Jaws of Life. For the next few days, the people who supposedly got killed stay in a hotel, and they come to school wearing all black and white makeup, and they can't speak to or make eye contact with anyone in the school. Funerals are put on for them and everything. Then after it's all over, the people in the group have to go through therapy again to recover. It's supposedly really intense and life-changing for everyone involved.

ya in my school some kids go around wearing black suits and white painted faces to show people about drunk driving and people go on the announcements before every period and say some statistic its pretty stupid

in my school they do that too, but only once. But the kids in my school walking around in black clothes and white makeup are goths, not dead.

the 'every fifteen minutes' program is something they do at high schools to increase awareness of and reduce drunk driving incidents. what they do is start one day of school with a very realistic simulation of a car accident at the school, where the rescue crews come and pull actual students from the cars who have been made up to look injured. at my school they used the jaws of life to pull a car apart and then took out one of my best friends who was dead (for the simulation's sake). then those students don't go to school for the next couple days, as if they were really killed. then every fifteen minutes they go around and pull a kid out of class, as if they had died as well, to symbolize how in real life a person dies every fifteen minutes in america from a drunk driving accident. they also take another student who was supposedly the drunk driver during the simulation, who killed the kids in the other car, and make him go through the next few days as if he was taken into custody and booked and held in jail overnight. the simulation is very graphic and realistic, and really moves everyone who comes to watch, because they use kids who a lot of people know, but it is a secret before hand and it catches everyone off guard. then, a couple days later, after like 30 kids have been taken out of the school, they end it with a big assembly where the kids and parents and administration talk about how they were affected by the whole thing, and they show a video with some of the kids in the hospital, and stuff like that. it does a really good job of showing everyone how much drunk driving sucks, and how sad the consequences can be. also, you know how usually no matter how serious some of these schoolwide programs try to be, there are always those kids who dick it up and make fun of the whole thing, well, during this, no one was lie that. it was too real. it's pretty awesome, actually.

yea we had that last week it was fuckin pretty over done. I don't know it impacted some people but only the ones that were involved in the whole thing. the funny part was that the kids that did it and got immpacted it don't even drink at all so it was just kinda a waste.

we had something like tht at my school. every class (1 hour long) the sound of a car crash would come on over the intercom and four people in the class would 'die' they had to stay completely silent for the rest of the day, and wear a piece of a plastic bag tied around their arm to show that they were dead. so kind of like a really low budget version of what your's did with the actual cars and the people made up to look dead

last year i remember they put out a smashed up car with a memorial on it at my school... i think thats all they did tho.. the every 15 minutes thing sounds knida cool.. i dunno i think it would work better than jsut the car everyone pretty much just ignored it

Yeah our school did the simulation thing every year until this year. last year one of my friends was in the accident simulation, with her boyfriend she said it was pretty scary even though it wasn't real. but this year we did the thing were every 20-30 minutes someone would get up and leave class and their name would come over the intercom saying they had been killed by a drunk driver and the would go get dressed as a 'ghost' and wear a number, being a 'statistic' i thought it was a waste of time most people are smart enough to not drink and drive and i doubt any of these little demonstrations affect people's deicisions that much. but I missed a period because we got to have an assembly at the end of the to conclude it.

no, but we do something close to that i guess. it's part of SADD (students against drunk driving) they reanact a huge accident, and get students to play dead and stuff. they have real parents come in and ball and stuff, and lots of the police force is there and everything. apparently it's really intense, but i havent seen it yet... i see it next year.

they dont do that at my school but they did have this big training session for the fire fighters and rescue crew. THe had a mock crash and it was cause of a drunk driver. they do something like it about every 3 months

we did it. it didn't really alter my life at at all but i wasn't an asshole and laughed during it like our scumbag ghetto kids who i would more than willingly shoot if i was given a gun and told that killing ghetto people is now encouraged by law enforcment.

My school did that a few years ago...some crazy shit. they even had a helicopter fly in from the local hospital to enhance the effect, some people thought it was real.

Having already had numerous friends get killed by drunk drivers (only one of which WAS the drunk driver), I really doubt I'd be able to handle seeing that. I've never even heard of it before but yeah... I've seen many car accidents like that. Trust me, it's not as easy for the EMS to get people out of vehicles as it may seem, like with stable patients and using the K.E.D. to immobilize the spine in a seated position.... That can take a half hour or more. Gah. That shit's hard. I hate when people drive drunk.

i suck. i just got drunk and drove home. yeah it was only like two blocks but shit. i've almost got killed by a drunk driver before (got t-boned on a highway intersection and he was going 70+ mph), and my next door neighbor is an ex con who just got out or prison for vehicular mansluaghter. fucking shit i suck why am i such a dumbass

yeah at our school a week before prom the police and fire departments simulate a drunk driving accident. Then last year we had a senior killed the night of prom because of his friend, who was driving drunk. So this year from what I have heard they are going to have the simulation as well as have the mom of the kid who died talk to us.

every 15 minutes is harsh. at my school, we got 2 beater cars, put them out in the field and everyone lines up and got to hit them with sledgehammers for 1$ a hit. it was rad.

we did that, a lot less extreme though. every class they sed ppl died, and the grim reaper would take em out of class, then theyd be walkn around with white face paint. it got annoying. they 'killed' our principal too, when they announced it everyone cheered, cuz we all hate her. she is ruining our school.

Wow, schools these days... The only time we smashed up a car at school was before the cross-town rivalry football game, it was serious as hell, someone would go to the other school and steal a car, then we'd bash it with sledge hammers and baseball bats, at was cool as hell. My whole school was a bunch of mormons, so to do something like that would be to acknowledge that these mormon kids actually drank, which they did... Mormons don't like outsiders to know they do stuff that they tell everyone in the world they don't do...

my school does something. they dress up like 10 people in black with shirts that say they were killed by a drunk driver. they aren't allowed to talk all day, but they do anyway so it has no impact. people still drink anyway.
