Toque = what my stepfather who is a chef wears. It's the formal name for a chef's hat.

As far as the looser fitting beanies go, I've heard them as saggy beanies or what I prefer to call condom beanies.


And australians call them beanies as well, pretty sure the english do too. First time I heard condom beanie was from a danish guy.

yeah "way up north" were we live in igloos we call them Tuques but generally i refer to a skull cap as a tuque and a looser fitting knitted hat as a beanie, ones with pom-poms on top i refer to as "puff-ball hats"
now you know how us nova scotians refer to our headgear
