NS Doctor

Help! For the last two days I've been experiencing some pretty bad pain in my legs/some other weird stuff. My feet (especially the tops of them) feel numb and freezing, but they aren't. And I have some awful pain going from my feet all the way up the front of my shin, to my knee caps, and it stops there. It's the worst when I'm sitting it seems. Nothing is helping, and I don't necessarily have the money for the doctor. Does anyone know what this possibly could be?

Also, I have arthritis in both knees and patella femoral syndrome, but I've never had pain like this before from either one of those. Could it be related?

Anyone experience something like this before? It sucks

sorry to hear about your knees, that's honestly the worst part to be hurting :(
i know the freezing extremities is due to poor circulation to those areas at the moment but you say it's further up your legs too?


and to the people who are saying go to a real doctor..do you realize that doctors guess about uncommon things most of the time...? sure they use deductive reasoning or logic but she has a better chance of finding someone on ns who has experienced something similar and was diagnosed than going to the doctor and getting a prompt diagnosis.

uhhh... the percentage of kids that have the exact symptoms she has are pretty small if not at all. If I were her I would call my general practitioner and see his/her opinion. regardless if they're guessing, they know infinite more than a bunch of 15 year old idiots on a freeskiing website.

Yea i am sure she is better off finding someone on newschoolers who just happens to have the exact same symptoms as she is exhibiting right now as well as having her exact preexisting conditions. She has better luck going to an actual medical forum like webmd and getting information there. But her best bet is to go see a doctor.

I called already, I'm waiting for them to get back to me. I figured since it was probably stemming from my knees, there would be other kids who have had this too. We're skiers, most of us have shitty knees.

You know what sound like shin bang and poor blood flow. Lay on your back put a few pillows under you legs to get above your heart. Spell the alphabet with your feet then massage your calls and.shins towards the rest of your body not to your feet to get the toxins out and stay hydrated. Also take done advil of something to thin your blind so it will circulate better. Sorry for spelling errors did this on my phone

that's good. I'm surprised they haven't gotten back to you yet. Beezy seems to have a good solution, but medically it might be more than relaxation, hydration, and massaging. Good luck

i've had some of your same symptoms, like my feet being numb/cold. it almost feels weird to touch the top of my feet, like i have no feeling in them or limited feeling in them... i went to a doctor and he didn't say shit about anything. he just said it was bad circulation and to be active.. i'm already active.

also- i had 5 doctors tell me that my bat bite on my ankle was from a spider or it was a scrape.. if it my dad hadn't called this weird bat specialist person i would probably be dead w/o getting rabies vaccinations in time. so FYI NS, doctors don't know everything. especially general practitioners..

Well.. shit. Called the doctor, told her my symptoms, and says that I have to come in and see her tomorrow. She said I had to come in today, but I have no way of getting there today.

If thats the case, what you said, I live across the street from a hospital. If it gets worse, I'll just go there.

if your dad knew it was a bat bite, why wouldn't you just go to that dude first? without disclosing all information you're leaving yourself at risk. sure doctors aren't right all the time, but I'd rather go to them then ask newschoolers.

Don't forget to massage down to your body not up to your feet. If your on your feet a lot toxins and pus can get into your lower limbs and since they are thicker than your blood once they sit in your muscles its hard for your body to break them down. A hot bath also helps to soak your legs previously then ice after massaging to constrict the muslces and skin pores and squeeze the rest out.

sad to say but you could have P.A.D. which are clots in your legs that could be restricting blood flow

Hate to be the worst case scenario kinda girl....

but those are super typical symptoms of the initial stages of MS.

Usually also accompanied with a serious migraine with in the first year or so.

Most women go around 10 years before being diagnosed with it but it is pretty common and usually symptoms show between 20 and 30.

My mom has it so I've been super aware of all initial symptoms.

But it isn't as serious of a thing as a lot of people make it out to be. Like my mom just has days where she doesn't want to walk because it hurts but 90% of the time she is fine. Or she will get hurt and wont feel the pain in the right area... thats kinda a weird one.


Could be a lot of things though. Just happens to be a symptom I've been hoping to not have.

To be honest, I've been checking the symptoms of MS and I have most of the other symptoms too.. The blurry vision, the random sharp pains in my extremities. When I go to the doctor tomorrow I'm pretty much demanding a MRI. Praying it It's

I know a lot of people with MS and all of them live very normal lives. You would pretty much never know it unless they told you.

Most of the symptoms are common in everyone anyway. Such as tingling and what not. It is just that sometimes the pain comes associated with it which happens to be pretty treatable.

The only scary part is that it can lead to blindness. But even this is really really rare and usually isn't something that happens until old age. In which case, I'd rather be 70 and nearly blind than nearly deaf.

I already have a crazy genetic disorder that predisposes me with blindness... So I've become pretty content with the idea that it may happen some day. My great grandmother that had the same disorder didn't go blind until 92 though... so I'm not horribly worried.

my dad didn't know it was a bat bite... we were up at our friends cabin and there were bats flying around.. when we got home i noticed something on my ankle. didn't feel anything at all but i started having weird symptoms and stuff so we went to doctors.. my dad called the bat specialist person because he thought it was POSSIBLE that it was a bat bite because there were bats flying around and bat bites aren't painful, they won't even wake a sleeping baby.

mmm i don't know much about how MS is contracted.. biological or whatnot. but my mom has MS and i have those symptoms too w/ chronic migraines that started a couple years ago. SO talk to your doctor about that... and after reading this thread i'm probably going to go do the same. sheeeet

A doctor is probably going to deduce the right diagnosis, OR refer you to a specialist in the case that he doesn't accurately know whats ailing you.
