My friend got beaten to death yesterday walking to a highschool football game. I can't even begin to understand what drives people to do such terrible things to innocent people.

what the hell.....this is one of the more randomly violent things i've read. Normally when i read about teens dying its due to stupidity in some way, like drunk driving or something to that effect.

But this is just...no words to describe it. It's just awful to read. I really hope they can find whoever did it.

and as for how no one saw it happening....well, if he used a baseball bat, as awful as it is, it could take less than 5 seconds to sufficiently beat someone to the point that they die. 2 good whacks is more than enough, then they could just run off.

First I want to say that I am sorry for your loss of a friend.  it's hard, I have lost a few in the last year. 

Second, what kind of cowards were in the park that afternoon?  It was in the afternoon with many people in the busy park.  Why did nobody try to help her?  Maybe it was a gang initiation or something, which would make it more tragic.

this kind of stuff fucks with me...
its not like a normal fear of heights or something that you can get over.  Not like skiing where you control your actions and you get hurt or not hurt based on what you do.  It can happen to anyone at any time and you never know.  My greatest fear is of things like this, random acts of violence that can end a life so easily.

Anyone out there could make the decision to say hit you with their car and you would be able to do nothing about it.

That's so crazy but I see what it's saying.  Me for one would have tried to do something.  The something happen to my girl.  Her ex saw her walking down the street in a busy mall outdoors and no one did anything as he hit her.  I walked out of using the restroom and saw this and I almost got arrested for sticking up for her and hitting the guy.

I heard about this last night- I didn't know Laura directly but we have a ton of mutual friends. It's sickening to hear about this, and I can't believe it happened. Her family and friends are devastated.

Her last facebook status was set on Thursday. "Laura Szendrei can't wait for the weekend!"

Okay well first off RIP, that is a tragedy and I really hope they catch whoever did it.

But I just read that bystander effect theory, and while I agree with the logic behind it, I have a hard time believing if someone saw someone getting beaten by a baseball bat that they would simply ignore it.
