Recently I have discoverd that my good from from highschool has Chiari malformation. During grade school my friend was always absent from school and people would never know why. People would make fun of him all the time for never being in school, but if they had any idea on what my friend was going through they would have kept their mouths shut. Because I'm lazy here is the definition of Chiari malformation from wikipedia.
CHIARI - a malformation of the brain. It consists of a downward displacement of the cerebellar tonsils through the opening at the base of the skull, sometimes causing hydrocephalus as a result of obstruction of cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) outflow. The cerebrospinal fluid outflow is caused by phase difference in outflow and influx of blood in the vasculature of the brain. It can cause headaches, fatigue, muscle weakness in the head and face, difficulty swallowing, dizziness, nausea, impaired coordination, and, in severe cases, paralysis.
Basicly what it does is push the brain down through your skull onto your spinal cord causing massive headaches, and nerve pinching throughout the entire body, redering you helpless.
There is no cure for Chiari malformation, but there is a sergury that can be done to help relieve the pressure. I see photos on my friends facebook of 8 inch long scars on the back of his head from the surgury. And he has had to go through this twice already!
I see his statuses on facebook of him being in tremendous amounts of pain, and duffering. saying that he wishes he was dead at some points!
this thread was made in a hurry, and i should have put more time into it, but I wanted to get the word out there, and just tell a story of a totally innocent , awesome kid. So be thankful for what you have and your perfect health because life is a bitch for other people that don't deserve it.
