Headphones are mad expensive. And mine see way too much abuse for me to invest in a really nice pair. Dubstep isn't really an exception in the way that you described though - the same goes for all music.

not if you're listening to a genre like folk, where its based mostly around lyrics...you don't really need high quality headphones/speakers.

electronic music sounds about 1000000x better with good sound system though.

but yeah, I've been listening to a lot of chill dubstep lately as the weather is getting colder, I'm guessing the filth will make a come back when skiing starts.

Sadly, at my school the music you listen too is about 1/4 of your social status it seems. Over the summer dubstep took off and it is now "cool" to listen to dubstep. To make it even worse if you ask a random bro if he listens to dubstep, he will say "yeah dude, bassnectar is AWESOME!!!!"

pretty much. I'm more referring to guys like Cookie Monsta, Funtcase, Trolley Snatcha, Dr. P, etc...like the really repetitive (even more so than normal) stuff that only has one mediocre drop that they repeat 3 times.

not true, i like some dubstep songs but i think the majority of whats out there is terrible. take deadmau5 dubstep song, raise your weapon, that is really really beyond bad. most stuff by flux pavillion on the other hand is beyond sick. /i knew flux pavillion before the spencer milbocker edit.
