For live performance, ableton > traktor > serato > other stuff not worth mentioning. Also, since ableton is dope for production, there's no way serato is the best program haha.

Still, I liked the first mix. Nice stuff dude, and pretty clean transitions. Maybe too much going on, but I was feeling it.

dude ableton is horrible as a traditional DJ program. Serato slays, but I'd say Traktor is the best of the big three between serato, traktor, and torq.

I use ableton for live performance, but that's because I gave up on using decks a while back. if I still did, I used serato for my tables, but if I used CDJs, traktor would be the better software.

heres my 2c. the music selection is just waaaay to intense over the top, you spend no time building up a groove, just all maxed out right out the gate, the tracks arent played long enough to even get a feel for them to enjoy, and the beatmatching is a bit rough at points.

learn to mix "in harmonic key" if you dont know what this means look it up, theres a way to harmonic blend tones and keys and make musical sense of a mix from track to track, than your mixing will be seemless and make musical sense, also learn to beatmatch using only the pitch control, live and on the fly with vinyl and cdj's, no touching the platter or anything whatsoever except the pitch dials makes a way smoother, cleaner, longer mix. software mixing just isnt real, if you want to be a good dj, follow these steps. trust me, not to claim but i have opened for the best underground house music dj's in the world for years, dj sneak, derrick carter, mark farina, terry mullan, johnny fiasco, hipp-e, halo, littlemen, inland knights, bryan jones, just to name a few1

heres some explanation on pitch mixing, it will take time to get this dialed in, but if you watch the top pro's you will see them only using the pitch controls while beatmatching, it enables you to immediately lock in a mix and have full control of it at all time, and not be able to here adjustments, once you master this and in key harmonic mixing your game will be unstopable.

As a "traditional" program, sure I totally agree. I'm just saying if you have the option of doing more than just beatmatching songs and crossfading one into the other (effects aside), then why not make your set more exciting? Why not layer/add loops? Also, return tracks are key for dope live transitions, and I'm pretty sure ableton has 'traditional' programs beat in that regard. I know audiences/parties can actually pick up on when you're mashup up stuff live or layering new beats/buildups onto tracks, because I DJ at my college using ableton and a midi controller and consistently people are really excited by what I'm doing. I'm not claiming and saying I'm a really good technical DJ -- because I'm definitely not -- but I'm saying that the new options/technology offered by ableton are inordinately better than just your traditional setup using serato/traktor, even with 4 decks and the best mixer you can buy.

Just my opinion though, and I do have a lot of respect for DJs who are good with tables/CDJs. If you're looking for a traditional method, then yeah you're totally right. Still, traktor is way better than serato for sure in that regard.

the songs used are way too fidget for my taste. u know fidget/dirty electro like some of the old Crookers stuff and that style
