Vegas 9 Rendering Issue

I am editing on a two day old computer. I don't know much about computer specifics, but it has 4tb of hard disk and 8gb of ram? Anyways, its a really nice computer. Editing goes fine, but as soon as I start a render in .wmv I get an error message saying that the system is low on memory, and the problem could be fixed by closing other applications. There is nothing else open. When I render to .avi, I get a 2.8 gig file for a 20 second 720 60p clip. The rendering works, the file is just much much too large

Any idea what I should do to either make .wmv work or reduce the .avi file size?

so...what do I do?

I just tried .mov and it was 5 gigs

I know .wmv would be a small and nice looking file, I just can't render to it.

render to a reasonable .mov format with a codec like the avid one(i forget but i can check later if you want) and then use stream clip to compress into h264.

So will all programs render massive files, simply as a result of the fact that im filming in h.264 with a T2i?

not really. you can render files as large or small as you want.

my way is to render it as something huge, and compress with stream clip. vegas can't put files in the h264 container, but stream clip can.

Yeah it shouldn't be 5 gigs, I mean you can easily adjust settings to make it as big or small as you want as said above. And Vegas doesn't really hate HD, I can edit pretty easily with 1080p HD you just have to do a little dynamic ram previewing to make it run a little quicker
