- Insert comma in the first sentence.
- Second sentence uses improper syntax; requires subject
- Open-and-shut is not the proper euphemism. Open-shut is the proper way to say it.


Wow. Three grammatical errors in three sentences from the Grammar Police? You really are no NSspellchecker.

1) The comma after "Sometimes" is a matter of preference; using it as you've suggested adds emphasis, but is not necessary.

2) My second "sentence" is actually a fragment. Sentence fragments are common English usage, found even in the highest sorts of literature. It is a tool by which one may emphasize a point, as I did in distinguishing between the crimes on Bones and Beezy's transgression.

3) "Open-and-shut" is correct per OED: http://dictionary.oed.com/cgi/display/00332398?keytype=ref&ijkey=uTW8SSKgMW3jk

1 is simply wrong. Commas denoting time frames and particular instances are never preferential. As for fragments, they are never grammatically correct. Artistic license is what separates high English literature from proper technical syntax, and you have neither the license, nor the ability to execute fragments correctly. As the "Grammar" police, you would know that, but you a simple high schooler.

Errors in your sentences:

- You forgot the comma after "as I did".
- You spelled "beezey" incorrectly.

The rules pertaining to comma use in this case are subject to variation. You are not necessarily correct, and neither am I.

I am a grammar police officer, not a spelling police officer. This is of course a technicality, and I concede the point.

Again, comma usage can, at times, be subjective.

You have no knowledge of my background; I could be an English Ph.D-holder for all that you know. I, however, respect and applaud your appreciation for and interest in the finer aspects of English usage, and hereby deputize you.

If you were an English Ph.D, I hope to God that you had better things to do on than correct anonymous users on the internet with incomplete knowledge of syntax and grammar usage. You yourself type like a typical high school AP douche. Don't get ahead of yourself. High school classes are mediocre learning environs at best.

Because he's not perfect, like NSspellchecker was. He's like a cheap Chinese knockoff version of a spellchecker. If he'd done it with hilarity, or some sort of cleverness, I wouldn't have challenged him, but he's just reposting the same retarded forms "citing" people for infractions that really don't matter. Also, beezey's awesome.
