Get your hands on one of the latest motor trend magazine issues or cargo magazine and a few others, and find the 'Men of Metal' book excerpt inside. Then let yourself figure out the mystery.
If anybody has stumbled across this booklet, please feel free to comment.

there are no pics of it man.
the reason i cant tell you what it is about is because i dont know what it is.
apparently its a fake book excerpt about this ex bmw worker who lives in deep in the countryside of england and has been using car parts to make robots or something and that they have been sighted in the woods at night.
its crazy.
the book has website references and im gonna get them for ya. but its really only cool if you get your hands on one of these lil booklets to check it out.

this is bullhsit or real?
It's nine o'clock on a Saturday
Regular crowd shuffles in
There's an old man sitting next to me
Makin' love to his tonic and gin
He says, 'Son, can you play me a memory
I'm not really sure how it goes
But it's sad and it's sweet and I knew it complete
When I wore a younger mans clothes'
La la la, de de da
La la, de de da da dum
Sing us a song, you're the piano man
Sing us a song tonight
Well, we're all in the mood for a melody
And you've got us feelin' alright

i am guessing its fake
the weird thing is that its the farthest possible stretch for advertisement. like in the lil book excerpt in motor trend and other mags, there is no mentioning of bmw or any of that, and its just this hearty thing with all these creepy night photos of the robots and drawings n stuff and sightings of it. its nuts. hangon though, there is another site of this guy who says what he thinks it is.

I've seen it, pretty sure its a mini ad though. They have some cool ads, original stuff. ever see mags with orange staples to be cones in a slalom? and one of their old ones was a whole bunch of stickers that you could put on a picture of the car.

ya i just read the whole 35 page thing online and it seems to be impossible for anyone to make a robot that sophisticated by themself in a garage, and even if a big team of people made a robot like that it would still seems improbable, but its probably just a big marketing thing

yea i can't believe how far of a stretch they went to though to advertise the mini cooper like this. like the booklet thing and then trailing it to a website n stuff. its awesome, dont get me wrong, i love a good mystery and scavenger hunt from time to time.

the videos on the guy's site look pretty fake though. And at one point in the excrept they say something along the lines of 'the Mini has X horsepower and bla bla bla technichalities' so that kinda proves that its not true for me.
Cool ad though.

but i was just looking at the video where it stopped the car supposedly. its kind of hard to tell with the nonperfect video, but it seems that the car put on its brakes. which means the robot didnt really stop it and that would mean that the robot is most likely digitally made on computer. i also think this because its motions are too fast and smooth to be like a modern day robot.

Plus whenever he shows the robot doing anything, he has a white screen behind it and its most likely used for a green screen effect. Just watch the vids man, anytime you actually see the robot move its in front of that screen.

heres how you can tell if its fake, watch the night vid. when he walks past the robot, watch his shadow. if its real his shadow will get blocked, if not then it will show right through to the other side of the robot.

very good eye. you can still see his shodaw go through the robot. another thing i noticed is that the background had other noises and you can hear someones echo. which would be odd for an area that a man is trying to keep it secluded. ha, it's a hoax

There is basically no point to this advertisement. nothing gets accomplished except viewing a cool robot do shit. bmw spent some worthless money on this. But i have to admit, it had me confused for a long ass time.
