Mount them center, they're fine.  1 cm isn't far anyway.  That ski rides well at center.

Maybe the binding mat didn't extend out far enough.

I have no clue if it is a stubborn rep or what but, I said screw it called the shop and they are putting them basically at center, they are 175's and about -1/2 back, its close enough and its a free mount so whatever

If I remember correctly, and I could be wrong, but the 09 TNKs had some....problems...with the core which cause several pull outs and even some snapping skis, so they may want them mounted at recommended because it has less problems there. I'd try talking to the rep and seeing exactly why he's so dead set on that mounting point and ask if there would be a bigger risk for durability issues at center.

Check out Tech Talk Episode #1 (https://newschoolers.com/ns/content/tvchannel/id/4770/t/Tech+Talk+Thursdays/).  Sterbenz talks about midsole vs. true center.  The difference is so minimal that the TNK will still perform exceptionally well mounted true center.  As the manufacturer, we recommend sticking with midsole but it's really your preference, so do whatever your gut tells ya.  FWIW, I split the difference between true center and midsole and do not notice any washing out while riding forward.  They carve with the best of em.    

sick yea checked it out, and just like you said at the end there I called up the shop and they are going to mount inbetween then the mark and true center. I think the owner was just slightly confused over what the rep was saying, or maybe forgot something he said, but thanks everyone

As far as I'm aware, the TNK has never had any sort of binding pull-out issues.  However, there is merit to this claim.  Generally, most skis without metal utilize an extra layer of fiberglass or a heartier micro-laminated wood underfoot to ensure the binding screw has decent bite and less chance of stripping.  When you mount true center, there's a chance that you may be beyond that reinforced area (mainly in the toes). 

The TNK core has hearty stringers of wood that run throughout the entire length of the ski, which gives it stiffness, strength and something good for the screws to bite into and avoid binding pull-out.  Most pull-outs occur from mounting errors where the tech may turn (strip) a screw and not fix it properly with a heli coil or tap-in nylon or brass insert.  For most skis, you should be ok with a proper mount.
