I was watching some piece on National Geographic and they were saying that Yellowstone is some super volcano long overdue to erupt. Apparently, it has the power to destroy virtually 95% of life on Earth, if it decides to giver. What do y'all think?
what you probably didn't know is that starting in 2012 yellowstone will start regulating the number of people that can be in the southwest district at one time. Luckily Camp Loll has already secured 40 boy scouts per day. Most of you don't know about the southwest district, which is the most volcanically active. A whole new spring blew out last winter at the ferris fork, shits crazy. But ask any park ranger, Yellowstone will not blow for a while, it takes a lot more pressure than the main caldera is currently under.
I live and work in the huckleberry ridge tuff, it is truly extrodinary how far the clast formation extends.
P.S. The last explosion was aproximetly 600,000 years ago.
The rock formation from the last time yellowstone blew up some 600,000 years ago. This member is about 15 miles from the main caldera. It extends to the northern end of the Teton range.
