Best Mac For $1500

Ok, so I'm only 15 years old, but..I am looking into buying a mac laptop. I only have about $1500 spending money, so options are limited. Any suggestions on what kind I should buy, and/or what else I could use the money for. Thanks.

P.S. I know there's like a million threads on Mac's but no hate, thanks.

Mine is over 4 years old. Never had a problem until last week when I dropped it on a cement staircase and took out the backlight bulb.... a plastic laptop would have exploded... It fell about 6 feet. It still works fine. I just have it plugged in to an external screen.

My friend is going to fix the screen for a lovely $30 cause it just needs a new bulb.

Anyway, I've never had a problem. Have upgraded through 3 OS's. Never had a virus. Computer is massively speedy. I can run and always have been able to run Illustrator, photoshop. and flash at the same time.

And.... my laptop still sells for around $500 on ebay. And it is over 4 years old.

My friend sold his perfectly good 6 year old powerbook a few months ago for $300.


There is nothing wrong with Buying a PC. It is just that a lot of people who have mac products have noticed that they last a long long time with out problems.

I'm still using the 1st gen 1phone as well.... Works awesome.

You realize your personal experience with the Mac's durability means nothing right? Apple produces thousands of laptops every year. A sample size of maybe a few hundred friend's laptops is no where near large enough to get an idea of the trend. In fact, if yours has lasted 4 years and you haven't had a problem you are extremely lucky. The average laptop hard drive fails in the 2-3 year period, regardless of whether it is a Mac or a PC. What most Apple fanboys fail to recognize is that 90% of the components that make up a Mac laptop are the exact same (if not worse) then the components that make up an equivalently priced PC laptop. Some of the main differences being the workmanship, the case, and the battery. Don't get me wrong I love the quality of Apple's hardware, but "durability" isn't exactly the best point to make when trying to convince someone to buy an Apple laptop. Because when there hard drive fails in 2 years they are going to be pissed off at you for claiming something that simply isn't true.

I have a 6 year old g4 powerbook that still runs like the day I bought it. No hd problems, no superdrive problems, nothing. I cropped a fucking entire vodka redbull on the center of keyboard and the only consequence was sticky keys for a week or so. Ended up selling it to my roommate as a replacement for his iBook that was even older, but still in perfect working order. Now I run a 15 in mbp that, gasp, hasn't had a single fucking problem. 3 for 3 is a pretty good percentage in my book. Whenever I have to go to my parents house I want to gouge my eyes with an ice pick because their PCs are so terrible. Both are less than 4 years old, no porn watching going on, and they are so bloated with spyware and various other shit that it takes a good 10 minutes to even get up and running. My mom even lamented to my how much she wanted a mac as their next computer. Sure a pc can run just as smoothly as a mac, but the amount of upkeep required is ridiculous.

best reply on here. i mean, this is a 15 yeur old kid we're talking about. what do you think he's gonna be using his laptop for? coding websites and creating workflows?

You really think age represents usage of technology? 15 year old kids grew up with this stuff. A 15 year old is much more likely to be doing video editing, photo editing, and gaming then a 35+ year old is.

A 15 year old is also hopefully more likely to be looking up porn than a 35 year old, since hopefully the 35 year can get some vajayjay himself

i was going to say the white body macbook's suck.

where i work more of them come in than any other mac.

pc's lack intelligent design, hence why you can buy a buncha fast hardware in a shitty laptop body with shotty built quality for that low low price of $499.

not everyone who buys a mac wants just the cool casing. the OS is what counts. You can all the power you want, but it's useless if the OS uses it wrong.
If you want a PC with windows, build your own, it's easier and costs less and you get better parts.
