Best Mac For $1500

Ok, so I'm only 15 years old, but..I am looking into buying a mac laptop. I only have about $1500 spending money, so options are limited. Any suggestions on what kind I should buy, and/or what else I could use the money for. Thanks.

P.S. I know there's like a million threads on Mac's but no hate, thanks.

This, and then you can still get some upgrades and stuff. Upgrade the hard drive for like $50 and there is a lot of other things you can get.

This, I'm replacing my old 13" macbook with a new 13" Macbook Pro and I'm upgrading the HD to 500GB, since I'm a college student I'll be getting all that for about $1450 (plus, I'm waiting till next summer so I'll get the free iTouch). If you happen to know a college student that would be willing to help you out you can save some cash...

macbook pro only 1099 if you put in that you are a student, you also get a 8 gig ipod tough rebate.. rebate does take a month though, save your money for mac care

But if you're too lazy to do that, the 13 in. macbook pro goes for $1199, but if you wanna save up some more, and go for the 15 in. for $1799, you can do that

apple care is very good to have
get the 13 inch with apple care, sometimes if you go to other websites or even bestbuy u can save $50, which you could also use to upgrade the ram or hd. but the macbook pro 13 is a solid computer, you won't be disappointed. my friend is into photography and uses aperture and cs5 on his with no problem, and his is like atleast a year old

you know, i have a PC,and i do love it,because its fast as fuck does run alot of shit really well. but i still wish i had a mac.

like, they just work so well. i have to deal with shit all the time mac users dont. plus, next year it will be a year and a half old and totally obsolete. unlike a mac.

get a refurbished iMac, that's what I did, I got a 2.93ghz i7 for 1900. I got home after school today and saw the big package by my door, this thing is the tits, bruh.

Reformat any 7 year old PC and it will run just as fast as the day you got it.... (assuming the hardware still works, the HD hasn't failed etc.). I love my mac and run both Windows and OS10 on it but WAY to many people don't even consider alternatives cause they just have heard the mac platform is better.

Honestly if your only 15 you will not need the power of a mbp unless you do a lot of work on it. If you want to still have some money left you might wanna just get the mac book. However the mbp's are super nice computers and they will last you a long time. The 13" is more than enough computer
What ever you do, do NOT get the Air.

If you're a student I believe you get either a 50 or 100 dollar discount towards new macs, and they sometimes run the sale for a free ipod, but thats for college students, but call and ask anyways, my brother is 15 and saved 50 of his for being a student

They usually only do the free iPod deal during the summer. The reason they do it is to clear out all the old iPods (the new ones come out in September typically)

The problem is that you are thinking in terms of can and can't do... When in reality both operating systems (or any modern operating system for that matter) can DO everything that 99% of people want it to. But saying something CAN do something does not mean it does it well, efficiently, or easily. My axe CAN chop a tree down but a chain saw is a much better tool for the job. Computers are simply tools to get a job done. One isn't necessarily better then the other, just like you would never say that a screw driver is better then a hammer. Different tools for different needs. And every consumer has a different set of needs.

I understand what you're saying, but what is it better for then a PC or linux? I have yet to see a mac out preform a PC of equal price. In any field.
The only reason I see people buying Mac's, is for video editing. I'm not in the editing field so I don't know, but what does it do better then a PC? How does it edit better? What programs does it have that can't be ran on a PC?

I see no advantage to a Mac. The only positive of a Mac is an aluminum case, which isn't worth the 300 dollar difference between a computer of equal power.

Look past the power, mac's usually just run better. From my experience pc's always have little quirks and problem, and tend to crash early. As were a mac just runs, it just works, and the peace of mind is worth 300 dollars.

if you're not really going to use a mac for editing, or adobe programs, and etc, there's no real reason to spend 1500 on a computer. it depends what you're going to use it for, and frankly in general, you're better off getting an imac for the same price as the 13 inch, because it's just more bang for your buck. but i mean, if you're willing to drop that money on a just for use laptop, nothing special, basically, internet and term papers, then get the cheapest one, buy apple care, and get the higher gigs and ram if you feel it's necessary or want your computer to last, and just be less annoying. apple care is important because if anything whether minor or big happens ; three major repairs and you get a replacement, and even an upgrade if they new computers are out. it's the best way to deal with apple, free shit, and damage control.

You are thinking in terms of black and white. Can and can't do. You need to look at the subjective experience of the operating system, not the objective features. I will give you an example. Compare the iPhone to many other smart phones on the market. In many (now almost most) cases the other options out there have more features and can do a lot more things then the iPhone. But that doesn't make it better. The reason why I prefer OS10 to windows for personal stuff (although I use windows for school and business work) is I find the user experience to be more polished. Fewer error messages. Programs run smoother. Interfaces are more appealing. The software integrates with each other very nicely. But those are things that I prefer for my needs. I prefer Windows for business/school work because I find the programs I am using on the Windows side to be more efficient and less distracting. But the things that I think make either operating system better for myseld will be different then that makes one or the other better for someone else.

When purchasing consumer technology don't just look at a list of features and say option #1 is bette then option #2 because option 1 has a camera, higher res screen, faster processor, and more apps available. You need to look at the device itself and what it is actually like when you hold it in your hands. Because to be honest 99% of those "features" that are selling points for many products aren't used by many consumers anyways. My 2 cents on the hilarious Mac VS PC religious war...

if you're just 15, you don't necessarily need a mac unless you are going to be doing some hardcore video editing. just buy a 500 dollar windows laptop and save the rest

I've had the computer I'm right now, for the past 7 years. I've had over probably 20 viruses and I've reset it multiple times. But I almost never have quirks or problems with it. It's always run smoothly and done everything you could expect a computer from 03 to do. I have never seen an Apple product run for more then 3 years before needing to be fixed by Apple, and with it being Apple, it always costs money. I can fix my PC for free, 90% of the time it gets injured. If a Mac breaks or slows down or something is wrong, it is almost required you take it to the Apple store and have them fix it for a price almost as ridiculous as Geek Squad.

This is where u are flawed because I have had my mac for 4 years never had a virus, never had to "reset" it or anything. I didnt upgrade it at all and it still runs just as fast and with absolutely no problems at all. Upgrading your programs are really easy too. I have nothing against pc's because i have never owned one but in my mind my computer has lasted so long and has been used so much and works like new, so i am obviously going to be a mac enthusiast.

Since this has turned into a mac vs pc thread, even though op clearly just wants help on what mac to get, i will say, i got a mac for the simple reason of porn. No viruses, meaning I can watch porn from any website, no matter how sketchy it seems. I'm not joking, I bought a mac strictly for the porn use. And I love it.
