POWDER MAGAZINE SUPERPARK 6, PRESENTED BY JABRA, MOVES TO MT. BACHELOR, OR, MAY 17-23
Superpark 6 named first stop on the Jabra X Jam - Winter X Games qualifying series
POWDER announces invited athletes
San Juan Capistrano, CA, May 3, 2004—For five years, Powder Magazine has led the evolution of terrain park skiing with Superpark—the sport’s most coveted invite-only photo and film shoot. For the sixth annual Superpark, Powder has partnered with Mt. Bachelor Ski Resort in Bend, Oregon, to continue this vision.
“The goal of Superpark is to give the world’s top park riders an opportunity to evolve their sport and create unique photos and film footage in a relaxed environment. Mt Bachelor and the Inn of the Seventh Mountain offer the perfect venue for this event, says event producer and Powder’s editor-at-large Keith Carlsen.
For the second year, Powder has invited only the sport’s top 30 men and five women. This year’s roster includes veterans such as Candide Thovex, Tanner Hall, and Vincent Dorion, plus rising stars such as Sean Pettit, Josh Bibby, and Niklas Karlstrom. In addition to the athletes chosen by Powder, each participating film company will be allowed to bring one “wild card athlete.
Offering an exciting new twist this year, Superpark 6, presented by Jabra, will also be the first stop of the Jabra X Jam, Winter X Games qualifying series. The most impressive skier over the weeklong jam session will be awarded an invitation to the 2005 Winter X Games in Aspen, Colorado, January 29 – February 1, 2005. Jabra will also sponsor a rail jam with a $1,000 cash prize.
“We’re very excited to host Superpark 6 at Mt. Bachelor, says mountain manager Tom Lomax. “With high-speed lift access to terrain features—both manmade and natural—built by the creative minds of our talented park builders, we think it will be a great event. Working alongside the Mt. Bachelor park crew are members of High Cascade Snowboard Camp and several professional athletes, including Bend, Oregon, local Sage Cattabriga-Alosa, winner of the 2004 Powder Video Awards Best Male Performance.
From May 17 through 23, look for daily online coverage of Superpark 6 on Powdermag.com, and in Powder magazine this fall. Additionally, footage from Superpark 6 will be included in feature films by Matchstick Productions, Teton Gravity Research, Poor Boyz Productions, Pléhouse Films, and more. Superpark 6 television shows will also air on Voom network’s Rush channel and then again on Fox Sports Net’s Fusion TV. Look for both of these programs this fall.
