i was just making a funny about the country boy thing. but soldiers have to go through intense physical and psychological training, becoming so disciplined that they obey orders without hesitation. i really, really don't think a gay dude is going to throw off their ability to do that, at all.

I agree with you on special treatment, I highly dislike special treatment. Like affirmative action type set ups. If you're black, gay, an owl, or a tree you can get in easier to a school because they need a certain amount of all of them, or they are trying to hook those people up. That kind of shit is retarded. Also not fan of people trying to use it to hook themselves up. You can't fire me, I'm gay, or black, or mexican, when the issue was simply the lack of good work ethic. that is also ridiculous.


But being able to serve in the military is not special treatment. How are they being treated equally? If an openly gay man can not serve in the military, that really isn't equal. It's not like they are going to "gay the military" and that's all anyone will be talking about. The soldiers will be busy decorating the barracks and telling the other soldiers that they need separate shampoo and conditioner.

I argued with a gay kid about this and we decided that it would be best if there was a mixed gay/straight unit that did some low risk missions to see how it would work out.

Like any major talking point to politics in the US you have people that are always going to be taking things way out of proportion. Instead of actually sitting down and analyzing the outcome of gays in the military they retort back to their simple "morals" handed to them by the lord and savior. Thus, gays in the military is not an issue of cause and effect, but rather an issue of a predetermined moral agenda. Not to say that's everyone, but a significant portion of it.
