well yes because they are the ones in position to do so. but in the miliatary, a homosexual soldier can be very uncomfortable to other soldiers. it creates tension as well

people said the same shit about women joining the military. the fact is that a gay soldier has the exact same physical and mental abilities to serve the country. if a couple of homophobic country boys are uncomfortable around gays, well tough, the military was never supposed to be comfortable.

I'm not saying nobody feels like the, but there are already plenty of gay people in the military. My friends had friends that were gay when they were overseas. It's not like the military is going to turn into a big sex orgy because dadt gets repealed.

i really don't have a strong opinion on this. dadt is fine by me. but there are arguments for the other side too.. the gay people i know would never even think about serving so it's just hard to imagine that there could be so many.

There's actually a ton of gay people that aren't even close to the stereotype. Gay hockey, rugby, football players. Not everyone rocks out to lady gaga in the club.

Thanks mom and dad for sending money to the cause and voting for people with the hopes of making this happen. They all succeeded. DADT is still kicking and everyone can keep freaking out about gay people.



Some of the headlines on the "action newsletters" my parents get are almost funny. "GAYING THE MILITARY" and then some text about how gay people are going to destroy the world. Liberals pushing their gay agenda. Things like that. AWESOME

if i was going to be a soldier i would want to be looked up to as a symbol of masculinity and badassness. the idea of rampant anal sex occuring throughout the military is a little unconducive to that. but personally i dont care. if the majority of soldiers dont want open gayness then i think it should be up to them

Indeed, plus gay does not equal rapist.

I could easily take a shower with a bunch of hot chicks and not rape any of them, well maybe just 1 or 2, but there would be like 50 chicks in there so percentage wise a very small occurrence of rape.

Well, Finnish army was probably the gayest experience of my life. All completely "gay" stuff going on for the sake of "team spirit" so I guess some homophobic marines might not be able to have someone actually liking their quasi-homosexual shower gimmicks in a sexual way. Still, I'm pretty certain the fact that you're gay doesn't mean you run around humping everything that moves in your workplace.

Why is being gay so much more sensitive than being straight? Just because some dude wants to buttfuck his best friend doesn't mean he deserves any better treatment than a straight person. The way I see it, DADT shouldn't be law, just common sense. Like someone said a couple posts up, don't ask because you don't give a fuck. If it comes up in casual conversation, whatever, but yeah, gays in the military should be a non-issue by now. What I'm upset about is how they tried to tack the DREAM Act on there, and fucked over a whole bunch of kids.

Well for one thing, this DADT shit is causing to much attention and people being 'sensitive' aka giving them special treatment just because they're gay. I think its stupid how big of a deal it is in america that someone is gay or lesbian, they are the same fucking people as everyone else. Gay and lesbians are just always in the news and always making a big deal because of their sexual orientation, balderdash i say.

The point of the free sexuality movement is to become equal. It's not "special" treatment to want to be treated the same way as everyone else. Thus, being outed as a homosexual in the army = you're fired and out. Doesn't sound fair to me.

for those of you confused about why its such a big deal, the issue at hand is a) the military is asking gays to remain in the closet and b) the military is discharging gays for being, well, gay. supposedly they are calling family members, reading emails and using other tatics to find out if a soldier is gay or not, which is stereotyping and is also bullshit.

I read an actual DADT information manual that was more like a comic book. At least according to that, other privates/officers/whatnots were regarded in very positive light if they could "rat out" someone who is gay from the platoon or whatever.
