i listened too WU before i got on ns and i thought it was the shit, and aperrantly like everybody on hear loves them too. i didnt know whether to be stoked that NS digs it, or too be pissed that im not special for listening to WU.

i know imma get hated on for that, but you all know EXACTLY what i mean.

What's so great about wu-tang is the fact that they are amazing to ski to, drive to, party to, and have on just about any time. People who "don't like rap" can actually listen to groups like wu-tang, because they take all the positive aspects of rap (good beat, lyrics, original sound) and take out all the crap that comes with mainstream rap and hip hop..... it's shitty that people have to put wu-tang in the same overall genre as soulja boy and lil wayne because it's totally different music.

yeah, some ppl use wu-tang as an excuse to look cool, but when you actually listen to it you realize why it became cool in the first place..

Wu is one of the most widely recognized hip hop groups in the world. EVERYONE listens to them. I can't even begin to understand how you thought you were special for listening to them...

Listen to the entire Enter the 36 chambers album at least twice. Forget any rap sterotypes you may know. The boys revolutionized the hip-hop industry and redefined what rap and hiphop could achieve.

With the exception of their later work, all most every verse is constructed beautifully. Pay close attention to Method Man, RZA, ODB, and Ghostface. It's poetry mixed with 40z and blunts.

influential, it  made NYC/East Coast hip hop what it is today, 9 members in a rap group was unheard of at the time, plus they were all unique/brought something to the table, RZA is one of the best hip hop producers of the time...skits, raw beats, minimalist sampling are all his, plus lyrically the group is excellent---its grity, violent, funny, kind of ironically childish (comic books, ninjas) and it all just comes together with so much power/energy

plus look at all the solo albums that have come from wu tang...ob4cl, supreme clientele, liquid swords

also a whole ton of style/slang came from wu tang

I think for the most part the people on hear saying they dont love the wu tang clan just havent been touched by the shaolin sword yet... iremember i used to not really get down with them and then one day I was like holy shit this is some dirty hip hop.

look for a book called "the wu-tang manual", it was written by RZA and explains alot about the slang and metaphors they use. When you are able to make sense about all the seemingly filler slang you gain a new respect for their lyrics. these cats are genius.

GZA recorded an album with RZA in like 93 called "words from the genius" (under the name "the genius"). Its quite different from his "newer" stuff, but just as potent lyrically. more of an easier listen, rappin about more trivial topics then some of his scientific stuff... check it out.

Someone in my class went to a Wu concert last week and said it was the shit! ODB's son was there too. Everyone in the WU was there except for the RZA. All come out on stage with blunts at hand. Security guards didnt even care after a while.
