I wasn't going to say anything because I do agree that dumbass biddies and bros way overuse "literally" and it pisses me the fuck off, but what pisses me off more is English majors. As English majors, you should know that all languages are subject to colloquialisms. Shit happens. Stop being pretentious.
haha i'm not an english major, and it doesnt take an english major to know that "irregardless" is a made up, redundant word, not a colloquialism. if i made up an obviously redundant, made up word and started using it would you be pretentious for telling me so?
haha i shouldnt bite the bait here but 1) knowing simple words and meanings doesnt necessitate being a virgin, it only necessitates having a brain and being alive for more than 10 years and 2) guarantee i get more ass than you (ultimate internet claim!!)
If it caught on to the point where such a significant percentage of English-speakers in the country used it that most everyone had, at the very least, heard it used - then yes. I'd be pretentious. Also, Rubber Soul is gay.
just because there are lots of idiots out there dumb enough to use a made up word doesnt lend it any more legitimacy. it's still redundant as fuck. it's like if i started describing things as "unharmless"
