Why does everyone here have to keep pointing out that I don't know anything when I haven't even had the chance to defend my reasoning yet?
Of course money flow both ways, but in the case of Jon having special jumps built for him, he does spend some money. I never said that all $50,000 of it was specifically his. Some was the resorts, some was his. It is true that I don't know the specifics of the percentages paid by each party.
Having said that, however, when the resort apportions money for a jump for a specific athlete to hit, it is not a far stretch to refer to that money as Jon's money or "his money", just as you would refer to that jump as Jon's jump or "his jump" Obviously he does not own that snow, he does not own the equipment used to make that jump. The employees that built the jump do not work directly for him. But that does not mean that you would not refer to his at his jump (as has already been proved hundreds of times in this thread). The portion of the money spent on the resort was not paid directly to Jon, so in that sense it is not his money, but in the sense that it went directly towards the mean to Jon's end, it could be referred to as money that he convinced the resort to spend on his jump..and thus his appropriated money..or his money.
Just because my name is Orange due to me being a rep that has nothing to do with Jon Olsson directly does not mean that I am uneducated nor far removed from the ski industry in general.
Now, onto another point. The person that I called "not very bright". I am sorry that I implied that your intelligence is sub par. However, you need to realize that Jon Olsson make a lot more money than you could possibly imagine. Much of that money is earned from sponsorship deals. If Jon Olsson were not a business man, as you implied, he would not have the number of sponsorships that he currently has. This is especially apparent by the fact that many of his sponsors are not related to the ski industry. In skiing you have to treat yourself as a marketable asset in order for you to convince companies to slap their logos on you. If that isn't an aspect of business and marketing..then I don't know what is. Perhaps you can enlighten me.
