lolololol this kid does now ride a 1198, he probably still has training wheels on his bicycle

just for reference this is P.Dog and you can see how I know he doesn't ride a 1198...his legs wouldnt even reach the pegs..

Thats awesome tho man congrats, hopefully you'll get in a few more weeks of riding before having to put it away

I just got rid of my 06 cbr 600 about a month and a half ago and im starting to go into withdrawals...im looking at picking up a newer r6 around dec/jan this year

hahaha touche victor! its actually not locked up anymore, but the battery got drained and its been on a trickle charger for the past month, i just honestly havent even had time to take it out, been so busy with school and taking care of my sister and the dog. maybe ill be able to make it to the last superfly with it.

nice bike, btw. the suzukis are nice and easy to work on. the next street bike i buy will be a gsxr 750 or a triumph 675.

wear your gear, even when it's hot out. not worth riding without it.

but i'm sure you knew this already.

there is a street triple version of that which is a naked bike with a ride position better suited for longer rides. i'd hate to ride a street bike on a long trip.

damn, some sick pictures popping up in this thread.

i took it out today for a bit, it's a ton of fun but it honestly scares the shit out of me. It's so fast and powerful compared to a car and it's definitely a lot to get used to. Tons of fun though.

Ha just try not to go too crazy though. IMO its better to be slightly afraid yet confident than not afraid at all. They didn't get the nickname donor-cycles with the ambulance people for no reason. Word of warning: my dad used to ride with all his buddies. But then again he also attended six funerals for those same buddies in one summer cause they rode stupid. Just don't ride stupid and you'll be fine.

Also, get some nice gear, cause if you lay that thing down going fast, they're gonna just take a hose and spray the red stain you left off the road. Just saying, don't mean to scare you :P with that said, I definitely plan on getting a similar bike with in the next 5 years.

any chance you'd sell that 160 for a reasonable price? I've been looking for one for quite a while..


and if you ever come through Colorado, you absolutely need to meet my friend, he is a honda fiend. he has three cb750s, one cafe, one on its way to being a raked out chopper, and one stock that is nearly fully restored show quality. he also has a cb350, and a cb400. and also has a suzuki gt185 that he got for his girlfriend.
another friend of mine just got a 79 cb400 as his first bike. we changed the oil and battery, cleaned the tank out, and it fired first kick. such awesome bikes.

anyway, just saw this pic and thought of the op and his gixxer.

ah man I can't get rid of my 160. They typically aren't hard to find though. i have enough parts to build maybe 2 more of them and I just bought a box of parts off of craigs. save yourself some money and buy one that doesn't work. put some time into it and rally it. I've bought a complete one for 300 bucks. didn't run, but i had all the parts I needed and usually it just needs a good cleaning, maybe new rings and stuff who knows.

thats cool you're into the old hondas too. I really enjoy my bikes they are easy to work on and they turn a lot of heads because you don't see them around very often. sport bikes are a dime a dozen.

I can't part with any bikes at the moment but if you or your friends are ever in need of some parts let me know. I could always use some more room in the shop!

the 160s are nearly impossible to come across in colorado for some reason. I've seen one on craiglist all summer.

I went riding this morning in 15ish degree weather. was such a blast until I got off and realized my entire body was painfully stinging as the numbness wore off.

anyway, people are 50/50 on this. without knowing you, i'll say yes it is. if you are a bit older with some experience and you're a responsible and mature person...maybe it isn't. It has been fine for me, but it is way too much for some.
