Best East Coast skiing??? +K for good posts

hey sorry if this is a repost but my searchbar on my iphone isn't working.

So i dont know crap about east coast anything but my girlfriend is planning on going to college in the east coast and i was thinking of going with her

im from idaho so i was wondering what state, city, mountain, etc is your guy's personal favorite place to ski.... park or big mountain

dont know. but her plans are the east coast. ( doesn't know where yet) i can make influence on her decision. so i need to know a bit about skiing over there

go to the poconos for big boulder for park of blue mountain for semi big mountain. u of scranton isnt bad good partying, but only mountains close r sno mtn(kinda sucks) and elk(super expensive)

mount snow has a good park, so does okemo but i havnt been there in a while. sunday river is decent all around mountain. it would help to know what schools she is looking at because these could potentially be a long drive.

Yeah, it's mad close to a bunch of places. Plus everyone I know that goes to UVM loves it there.

Jay Peak for best/most snow in the east. Killington is where my heart is. I grew up there and it is absolutely a great mountain with plenty of challenging runs if you know where your going. Stowe is also really awesome with options to go into the "back country" but Smugglers Notch has by far the easiest and best "back country" the east offers. Never really have been a big fan of any skiing other than VT on the east coast. As for colleges close to the mountains UVM, Champlain, St Michaels, Green Mountain, Castleton,and Johnson are all within reasonable distances from Mtns.

yeah PA and Nj have ok skiing. parks are good. Lots of ice, but it's easy to ski on once you learn.

this, this, this, this, is where you should go and if you do and you should get a stowe pass i've heard it's easier to get to then some of the triple major places

You should probably just break up with this chick.

But, if you're real set on following her out east, going to school in VT is definitely your best bet. Burlington's a real fun town, and Stowe and Jay Peak probably get the most snow out of all the mountains on the ice coast.

Im gonna be straight up with you here. Mass blows. There are no mountains and no snow. Go north and try as hard as possible to stay away from southern new england.

LOLmassachussetts. Probly don't want to go to school in Mass if you want to ski. VT, NH, and ME are the places you want to look in. PSU, UNH are close to waterville and Loon. UVM/ surrounding area is where I am. Burlington is a fun town and there are tons of options for skiing.

that's not really happening...just saying.

UVM is probably your best bet, Burlington is a pretty sweet town, and you're really close to some of the sickest East Coast mountains.

Mass has got lots of schools to choose from, but the skiing in MA pretty much sucks, so you'll be driving out of state (either VT or NH) to get to the goods. If skiing is a top priority but you want to be on the east coast, don't bother looking at schools in MA or CT.

Go to University in Montreal. Great city and school costs next to nothing. On top of that you have more access to the skiing in Canada as well as Vermont. Not that east coast skiing in Canada is any good in general, but still you can find good mountains.

MA has no skiing except like wachusett and berkshire east. idk what your academic profile is but dartmouth and middlebury are unreal schools both very close to skiing. uvm is good if you're not too concerned with school, most people get in there, and it's like 45 mins from stowe which is one of the best places in VT

besides burlington is a sick place to live

CT actually has a decent mountain- Ski Sundown.

But its not worth going if you have the option to go to Vermont- probably your best choice for skiing in the east, best mountains in Vt are probably- Mt snow, stratton, and killington. I may of forgoten some.

been said to be the best park in the south east
AM rider Charlie Owens is from here
Snowboarder Cam Pierce is from here
and a bunch of diggers and riders at windells are og locals here

Everyone gets into UVM my ass. Thats a pretty tough school. And to Frenchy who said CT has a good MTN. If thats true my mother is a beaver. It doesnt snow in CT and there are no MTNs Ski Sundown is an ant hill.

vermont. within about and hour you drive to okemo, mount snow, killington, and many other resorts.

UMass amherst is the closest school in massachusetts to any decent skiing (mt snow about a 75 minute drive) but to be honest, go to burlington. dope little city and jay peak and stowe are close by. Plus the colleges run free shuttles to the mountains and your season's pass will be cheap as hell.

i have, and in comparison to jay peak stowe killington mount snow etc.. actually there isn't really comparing ski sundown to those mountains.

Used to live in Ct way back. Been to both Ski Sundown and Powder Mtn(?) I think it was called. Both of them are not Mtns and both of them have an absolutely no challenge. So yes I have been to Ski Sundown and yes it does suck.

Amherst College? or University of Massachusetts Amherst? Or Hampshire?. Smith and Mount Holyoke are also really close to amherst, but they are girl's schools.

There's literally about 17 schools within 30 minutes of each other in western mass, it's a little crazy.

and UVM and Champlain are both in Burlington.

Im gonna be completely honest with you I could give two shits about a park. Im sure there parks have changed dramatically. But so have I and I no longer care about who has the best park. I want to be challenged not bored. I also like vertical.

Vermont and New Hampshire are your best bets. Killington, Stowe, Jay Peak, Waterville and Mt. Snow are the best mountains on the east coast with the most snow.
