does anyone else umpire. i umpire 9-12 year olds. it amazes me how serious some parents take it. you would think it is life or death to some of these people. umpireing thisn't as easy as u would think so next time u are at a game lay off the officals.

i used to for a couple of years...some parent threw a rock at me when i called his kid out aat home and they lost

at the peewee hockey game, where some parents go insane,
the ref thinks they're a pain, at the minor hockey game.

parents are psyco. watch out for the ones who've been hiding beer in their coffee cups, they're violent and loud.

I umpired my first game of the season last nite~~it was a travel team versus an in-house team and the travel team coach went nuts when I didnt call a strike for his pitcher even though they were up 7-0~~its f-cking crazy how ppl can act just over a game--i cant wait to throw sumone out though-that will be awesom

My friend got in a fistfight with a dad when the dad flipped out over a gamedeciding call. His kid was a 12 year old, and my friend was 17. Neither my friend or the dad got hurt, but the dad was banned from all athletic activities forever. Umping is dangerous.

Me: 'How come every time we talk, the subject of my mum using drugs comes up?'
James: 'It doesn't.'
Me: 'It does though.'
James: 'Yeah, it really does.'

Yeah dude, parents are nutz. I Coached soccer, once I had to literally pull this kids dad off the ref because he called an obvious penalty shot. The kid actually should have got a red card (intetional hand ball in the crease), and the parent should have been banned. Nobody reported it though, but I mad the dad promise me that he would stop talking. I felt so bad for the ref though. You couldn't pay me enough.
