Whaddup Guys?

For an english assignment I need to pick a book that has a movie based on it. I have a few ideas, but I was curious if you guys had any good ideas.

can i get a 3rd on that? i havent gotten around to watching the movie yet, but the book blew me away. its a legit terrifying book, im not sure how they portrayed elements of it onto screen. thats basically the only reason i want to see the movie.

i can see that. what made the road so intense was the writing style. im currently reading it again for a humanities class and theres just so much in there for such a simplistic novel. carmac mcarthy will have a nobel prize in literature very very soon is my guess. if not for the road then another work

yeah fight club is the obvious choice but try to be creative,

and for those who said the road, i havent read the book but the movie was a COMPLETE waste of time. nothing happened. and my dad said they changed the ending by having the kid find some nice group of ppl to go off with where in the book he just goes off on his own.

I've heard that the contents of this book are so disturbing that the movie just touches the disturbingness found in it.

something about sending live rats up a woman's colon and letting them "eat her out".......

depending on what grade OP is in Holes is probably not sophistocated enough.

I would suggest doing a classic, there is so much more info on them on the net and such

Thanks a lot for all the suggestions. I'm going to bring them in Monday cause my teacher has to give us her opinion on which will be best for the assignment.

PS for whoever mentioned it above, I'm in the twelfth grade.

Hmmm. I guess I'm in the minority by thinking that book was written by a fifth grader. Good idea, sub-standard execution. That's a book where I could actually fully expect the movie to blow it away, because I can't get hung up on stubby, butchered sentences on film. That being said...

let me join the club here..the road gripped me, shocked me, stunned me and i basically didnt stop reading for 4 hours. SO GOOD.

have yet to see the movie but plan on it soon...

Let's say it like this: the book ranges from encyclopedic narration about Phil Collins' career for 10 pages to gruesomely detailed explanations of Bateman ripping whores' throats open with a coat hanger, cutting off their breasts and feeding their own livers to them as they are still barely alive while simultaneously fucking knife gashes on their stomachs. What does he think during this? Well, what suit to wear to work tomorrow, the the pin-stripe Armani or the charcoal Ralph Lauren.

Yeah, it's a great book.

i've never read the book, but the movie Stand By Me is awesome. Stephen King read the book, and it's definitely a high school/coming of age sort of thing. Thank You For Smoking is another great movie with a book i haven't read.
i need to read both of them.

The movie didn't come close to touching the book. I found the narration in The Road to be some of the best in any book. Off the top of my head, I can't think of any other book I've read where they describe gray clouds as "the relentless encirclings of an intestate Earth"
