I think the rationality of it is great, although I'm not so enthusiastic about the Colbert march for fear or whatever. It's funny and all, but I think that it will distract from the greater point. This should be a positive event, not one that takes shots at whatever "fear mongeres" may exist, even if Colbert does it sarcastically; it is still falling to their level.

It was a really fun afternoon. Good performances by the musicians, a pretty diverse crowd, a good number of funny signs, and a great closing message. There's no doubt that Stewart has more mojo than Stephen, but they did a good job playing off each other's character. Colbert made the show really good, and rounded off the spectrum... especially with the video montage of fear but Stewart's comeback was inevitable.

I hope Stewart can challenge all the pundits featured in the montage to take it down a notch. The analogy of the media to the immune system was brilliant. I've heard him make his car story case before but it tied things up very well. I could tell that the message of the rally is something that has been on Stewart's chest since shortly after 9/11. It's too bad it took him this long to find the appropriate time to share what he did.

Thanks Jon and Steven and America we're the greatest, if we just do what we have to do.

10 million and it was a perfect cross-section of the American population.. Because the only two metrics that matter are number in attendance and the demographics. (joke from opening statements)

It stretched all the way from the front of congress to the wash monument. There were so many people that cellphones were having trouble accessing the networks. I would say knowing the actual number in attendance is pretty meaningless, if you were there I doubt you'd know the difference between 150k and 300k. There were just more people than the eye could see. And you were screwed if you were hungry after the rally let out, every restaurant in dc had a line out the door and down the block.
