Interviewing Street Performers, T2i Sound Help Please

I have been asked to film the interviewing of street performers in Denver and Boulder this weekend. I film with a T2i, and have no external mic, and obviously downtown Denver is a very loud place, and obviously the stock sound recording on the T2i is that of a cell phone essentially. I am worried that the background noise will drown out the sound of the interviewer. I am going to use a song for most of it, and the song will fade quieter when the performer is being interviewed. Not really sure what else to say, I'm kind of pulling for straws here. Anybody have any suggestions?

when i needed a mic for my t2i i went to my school's audio/video teacher because i know the guy real well and he gave me a wireless clip mic with a receiver and everything so if you go to a high school with an audio video class give that a try i guess.
If not just post desperate facebook statuses

I too would like to know how fellow newschoolers out there handle audio issues with their t2i's/DSLR's. For me audion is HUGE in most cases and that's why iv'e been hesitant on dslr's

Your only option is to buy some type of external mic, and trust me, its necessary for this type of filming (interviews). A zoom h4n, h1, or rode videomic should all work great, I personally use a videomic and an h4n and love them both.
