Theres a difference between going fast and being reckless. I can go as fast as I can at my home mountain and I'm probably not being reckless. Unless its mobbed. On Christmas break going as fast as you can might get you broke off. However, if I go to Alaska and ski as fast as the mountain and my skis I'm being an idiot and I would probably pull my pass to.

Skiers can still go fast and be in control , but it's more the intermediate/beginner skiers who go fast but have limited control over what they do and that is what dangerous not the advanced skiers who have control over there speed.

the problem with the too-fat/out of control line is that most patrollers don;t know where the line is because they themselves aren't that good. they just assume you're out of control because you're trying to get out of the way of all the Joeys

they have absolutely no idea what theyre talking about. that guy they interviewed is probably pulling passes for people bombing slow signs and gapers going 60 in the pizza position. GMA of course has no idea what theyre reporting on and thinks that its anyone who takes even a little bit of risk...

this all can be fixed with my patent pending gaper eject bindings that i've been carefully planning. Gapers excede 19mph or cut in front of a dropping on a hit in the park and the bindings double eject the gaper, sending them flailing through the air.

After an extensive class and training criteria are met, the bindings will be set to a more reasonable setting.

That is fucked up, the people reporting on the story know nothing about the sport. The ski patrol know what they are doing half the time and will only clip reckless gapers. The 19 mph rule is total Bull if you are in control it shouldn't matter what speed you are going.

Holy crap...... never have I ever heard of such a stupid thing. Its understandable that some people are just reckless because they suck, but that shouldn't affect people that actually know how to ski. I really hope Canadian slopes don't get involved with this.

god... skiing is at least to me about freedom and doing what i want. part of that is going as fast as i want. i see the logic in some helmet rules and what not but this would really ruin a lot of the magic having to have the rules on my mind the whole time

I heard utah just put a law up that allows ski patrol to fine you for skiing too fast.

I believe the only resorts that enforce it were park city area resorts.

fines and the whole 9 yards. jail time even!

Remind me never to ski in switzerland...lol. How about the fact that gapers are a danger to others on labeled black runs, and if u get hit on a black, its pretty much all ur fault. I damn near killed myself twice this year with people standing/sitting in blind spots on non slow slopes, but had enough controll, even with the speeds I was skiing, to miss both gapers and take a gnarly double ejection, yet I would still get a ticket for that fuck that.

so soon im goin to need a speedometer, i mean the people get pissed for the advanced skiing on the intermediate and beginner terrain, then you have the beginners and intermediates goin onto the advanced terrain, i have seen so many gaper families go into the terrain park

ONE little ski resort (Gstaad) has such a speed limit on 4 of its 20 slopes. No other swiss resort has a speed limit. Jeez, is this Faux News or what? :D

This is getting ridiculous now. What will probably end up happening is that people will need to do a snowsports license to ski blue/red/black runs, with greens being solely for beginners. Something that would be able to be put on your skipass easily.

What I would do if i owned a resort, which many resorts do is have people acknowledge the danger of the sport and by buying a ticket acept the dangers and wave all rights to sue and complain.
