its a tab bit diff from PC's, there is no start menu, there is a bunch of little icon like things at the bottom, and then the file, edit, view, all of those that are on the top of windows in PC's are permently on the top of the apple's desktop, the features change depending on the application that is open, when u use an apple u will know what i mean, and then there are some keyboard changes and what not, but u will get used the to them

^ oh ya sry i forgot to mention the advantages and disadvantages, if u r goin to do any sort of film editing or digital photo, or music or anythign that involves creativity and a computer then apple is the way to go, the disadvantage with apples are that u pay more for their products then u would for a pc generally and that compadibility with software is not the same as pc's its gettin better but u r still limited on software for apples

i may be entirely incorrect about this, but i have a theory that the majority of viruses created out there are for pc's - leaving mac's to run free. my computer which i have used on average 4 days a week out of the last 4 years has never once gotten a virus. thats pretty incredibly considering how much shit i download. or maybe its filled full of viruses and my powerbook g3 doesn't really give a fuck. the point is my computer is still going mach 5.

as a general agreed rule, macs are a lot more stable than PCs. they also absolutely rule in the video/audio/that kind of stuff area. and they look cool. but, considering that u've recently bought a computer, i'de wait about 6 months, unitl they put the G5 processor into a powerbook. at the mo, its all just suped up g4s, and take it from me, the g5 is by far and away the best computer on the face of the planet at the moment. to prove my point, Virginia Tech, just recently, ceated the cheapest, quickest assembled supercomputer using g5s. all this, plus they are much more compatible with iPods.....

I love Macs and have since '89. They are just a lot easier to use. I think I can say this without a bias becuase I use a Mac at home and a PC on campus. I hate using the PC, they just aren't as well organized and simple to use. It is much easier to change settings, save and move files, and find files on a Mac. I'd say the only really advantage of a PC is the right click but honestly who really cares about that. Also alpinecowboy brings up a good point that viruses are usually made for PC. There is some asshole computer nerd who keeps sendng my viruses on my university email account and I can't even open them with my Mac. Macs are also a lot faster at processing even with a comparable processor from a PC. Mac processors process data 2 to 4 times faster than an intel processor at the same speed. They are also more stable and don't freeze up. I haven't used the new OS X much but I've heard it is virtually crash free. If a program does screw up you can almost always just force quit the individual program and not have to shut down the whole computer. Macs are just grat get one if you can.

im not really biased since i use both but i agree macs rule when we upgraded computers and got osx i started using and though it was nice but i still used xp but then my pc kept shitting out again even though i just reformatted my harddrive! so then i started using the mac everyday and it just got better and better and i kept finding all these awesome programs and some great filesharing stuff and it just kept getting better and better so apple rules all. i only use my hp about once every 2 weeks or so. mac rocks for everything.
