Powder riding to be had with the EPIC pass?

I have searched this and found nothing helpful so any advice would be great.

This season I'm heading out to Breck and have got the epic pass, and am trying to decide whether I need to get a set of powder skis for the season as well as some new park ones.
I have heard there's not much powder to be had around breck, but have heard rumours about Vail being sick for powder?

Any help/knowledge would be much appreciated.

in summit county we get like five real powder days a year i would not get any pow skis unless you are going to be going to like wolf creek or silverton

No chair 6 is money for some trees and pow so yes buy some pow skis cause vail has some mad pow as well. i suggest some used hellbents

People who say there is no powder in Summit County must sleep in. Last year was the worst year I can remember and I probably got a good 10 knee deep days and 5 waist deep days. You just have to know where to go and get out there early. (I only got ~25-30 days, fuck working)

At Breck you can traverse and hike a bit to 7 and get pretty good snow almost every non windy day. Vail is massive and there are always powder stashes. Berthound pass will have powder season round. Its not Alaska or Utah but if you are on the mountain early or willing to hike a bit you should be good. There are literally a shit load of places to hike but some are pretty dangerous so go with someone who knows for sure. You could also take a road trip down to Wolf Creek or Monarch or something like that

For this reason I recommend you get something in the mid fat range (you dont kneed anything close to jah loves) and put an at binding on there, by AT I mean duke or the lighter one, griffin? whatever it is. Barron I think, put those on there and get some skins and you will be happy with the powder.

CO has great pow days on good seasons.... get up early, head to Beaver Creek, and blow your mind....

Sorry to steal your thread, but i'm flying from Chile this season to go from 25 of january till 13 of february to summit county area and the rest of february to vail/ beaver creek.

Should i bring only my armada halos, or it would be a good chance i may need my ep pros.

Loveland always gets shit on. just find away over the pass early in the morning before they shut it down. on days when Breck/keystone get 6 inches, loveland will get 20"

La Nina this year. Get pow skis. Sucks you wasted money on an Epic Pass. Should have just gotten the Colorado Pass...

Thanks for all the info man! Much appreciated! I'll look into getting a guide or something while I'm there so I can get hiking in some safe-ish places. Just about gaining some local knowledge really I guess.

you can got to TGR, those guys are out in the BC all the time. In my opinion they are not very safe so be careful. If you are working an unconventional schedule and dont have to work M-F I highly suggest doing a hut trip in the 10th mt division huts. They are awesome and the skiing is incredible. I did Peter Estin hut last year and it was by far the best snow I got all year, but the huts are booked instantly for the weekends.
