What's the best way for a Brit to get employed in Whistler?

Hi
I'm coming out to vancouver/whistler on about the 20th of october.
A month ago I applied with intrawest for an interview in vancouver later this month, I didn't get it because they said they had people with more experience applying, which is fair enough, because I applied for operations and have no experience of that.
I do have a few years of retail and bar work, though.
In the first week of october they open more interview slots for their november job fair. This is where I need help.
What do intrawest look for in their employees, I really want to get working for them so I can get the lift pass, and possibly the housing.
Any thoughts or ideas would be appreciated.
PS, I also posted this in the regional, but I figured NSG has more traffic.

I'm planning to go out from the UK in november. I was just gonna find a job when I get there.
What are you doing about accomodation?

be open to anything.
even if its not your ideal job, its a job. Whistler is expensive.
be an outgoing person and show them that you have a good personality and work well with other people.

i went out there a little while ago handing out resumes.
three stores told me the same thing. No one takes you seriously until you have confirmed accommodation and they know of it.
I'm moving up there oct 1st and just looking again once i'm there. The job fair that i keep hearing about is that just for jobs run by the mountain? like lifties and cafeteria for kitchens they own and stuff? or is it other stores to.

How did you apply for that, I've look at their website and it only seems to mention graduate recruitment.
