Stealing from the Industry

So I put up a fake Revolver torrent about two hours ago(1.31 gig .avi that pretty much just said fuck you). I was pretty depressed by how quickly and how many people started downloading. It was got up to 20 peers before I took it down(pbp asked me to). Honestly pirating music or software from companies that have millions is one thing, but to steal from company's thats health is so tied into the our industry is fucked up. Companies like level 1 and poorboyz deliver a quality product so stop be a cheap ass and pay for it.

Why would you have done that? All that does is encourage other people to look for a genuine torrent.
You must have a ton of time on your hands.

people are obviously already looking... I think spending 10 hours downloading a video that tells you what a piece of shit you are should be discouraging somewhat...

not quite sure why you wanted to do that, but yeah, stealing from ski companies who put in so much work to make the movie happen is pretty shitty

its actually interesting to see, but unfortunately it gives people (who have the skills to do so, unlike me) the idea to put it on the internet, which hopefully won't happen.

you actually took the time to put up a fake torrent?
but seriously, buy the movies. If you are a broke ass college student (like me) just buy a different one than your friends and then trade at school/ski hill.

i seriously doubt anyone who would has both the movie and the skills to put the movie online would be moved to do so by some guy planting a fake torrent telling them to go fuck themselves

Preorder movie for $20, get shirt. Watch till you're bored, then sell on NS for $10. In the end you pay $10 for a shirt and a good dose of ski movie, its fucking worth it.

Yea i guess it kinda is a little weird to take time to fake a torrent... but then again I am a computer science major so this shit is interesting to me. Pirating is obviously a big concern in my field and I actually wrote a paper about using fake torrents as a defense against pirating. Pretty much it works by creating a massive amount of fake torrents to the point where only 1 in 100 is legit. Obviously what I was attempting was on a much smaller scale but I don't have the resources to implement something on that scale. However, if 10 percent of the people on ns hosted false torrents and committed on other false torrents can you imagine how hard it would be to find the legit ones? just a theory of mine

but those sites always have like reviews and you can report fake ones. I think the best thing you can do is just notify the company if you see the torrent up.
I'm not one to talk though I steal so much music from the internet.

I could never sell a ski DVD. My DVD collection sits proudly on its own shelf in my room, organised chronologically and then by company.

That is a good idea. Anyone who says that creating a false torrent would somehow encourage an actual torrent is retarded.

I don't see why everyone is saying it was pointless to do. Props to you man for taking the time to do create and put up a fake torrent. I agree with everything you have posted.
