Need xbox help

hey guys i need your help, what im tryin to do is to connect to xbox live
heres what i have i have a laptop pc and the only internet service i have is a usb modem (att mercury usb), ive tried tutorials of trying to share the internet with connect but i just doesnt work, i was thinkin about upgrading my phone to one with the 3G mobile hotspot shit and i'm not sure if that ill work so ns geeks please help me

How are you trying to connect to the internet? Do you have the new xbox with built-in wifi? are you trying to use a wire? a wire from your laptop or your computer? Need more info.

But srsly. Turn 360 degrees around, go back to the store, and get a ps3.

You sure you cant share with your laptop.

Just connect your box and computer with an ethernet cord then bridge the connections.

yeah i was trying to connect with the ethernet cord, and im not sure how to share the connections cause im mostly a mac person so pcs are alien to me

It should. Might be a little laggy, but xbox live isn't a super heavy user of data. I've heard of peeps tethering their droids and playing okay. Google it for setup if you're having problems.

can anyone post how to share the connection between the modem and live cause this is my main option so that i dont have to spend 300+ on a new phone thanks guys

you go into network connections and there should be an option to make a bridge, which will connect to the xbox through an ethernet cable, im not sure exactly how to set up the bridge because ive only done it once but its not that hard

no, its just these are the only options i have for internet especially since i live in the middle of nowhere in florida, and no cable service goes through my area, and my att usb card works great, and ive gotten tired of goin to my friends and hoggin his live

To bridge connections on a PC: My computer > My Network Places > View Network Connections > Select your active connection (some PCs have multiple ports) > You should have multiple connections, one or two active (For example, I have 1394 Connection (my internet) and Local Area Connection 2 (the port inwhcih it comes in)) To bridge, Simple highlight both connections you are trying to bridge, right click one, and select bridge. gg. Note: These directions are for XP, but the general idea should be the same on windows vista or 7

Honestly though, go out and buy a wireless router. They have multiple ports for connecting Ethernet wires, and these days, they are dead cheap. Connect the input to your modem, and then you can connect your pc and xbox wirelessly or through wires, and it configures itself almost automatically, and will always work (the pc won't have to be turned on, it won't be glitchy, you won't have the same lag issues you will bridging blah blah blah). its network, network sharing center, manage network connections, right click wireless network conection, properties, sharing, then click both the boxes. i think

I would say plug that in and get your internet running, then run an ethernet from your comp to your xbox and turn on internet sharing. This is all a guess though.

ahhh. no, that won't plug in to a router, and to be honest, I'm not sure you can bridge a connection with that. If you can though, bridging through your PC is your best option (as far as I know). Good luck man

so yeah i tried this guys and it didnt work, so should i go the wireless route and get a phone with the 3g hotspot, thinkin palm pre plus
