Three mountain guides from courmayeur itaily are attempting to ski the hornbien couloir on mount everest. This is the first attempt of the hornbien couloir, since the disappeared of snowboarder marco siffredi on september 8th 2002.

Does anyone know how the double pole planting works? As in what is the benefit of it? I feel like on something that steep it would put me off balance.
