4FRNT's Warranty

OK i was in killy in march, skiied the msp's and loved em, so i bought a pair, it was the last pair fred's had. i get em home and look at em closer and i realized that the graphics are different on the two skis. that i dont really care about though. what is the problem is that the one ski has tons of big bubbles in the topsheet and a dent in the base. haskel said that 4FRNT wont warranty this, and that he had sent several pairs back for this already and they just got sent back to him. if i am correct, back when the skis first came out, they had what was probably the most lenient warranty in the industry, and now today when i checked their website about the warranty, it basically covers nothing unless the skis snap in half or delam. is anybody else having problems like this? i mean its not a huge deal to have the bubbles, but i am just wondering about the whole warranty issue, because from a customer standpoint, i think its poor business to say one thing and then go and change the warranty midseason. any ideas?

yeah i remember their warranty said nothing about rails a while ago, and now damage from rails is specifically not warrantied. oh well it's not like they're gonna break anytime soon

yeah thats not my point, i'm sure a little defect in the appearance of the topsheet isnt gonna be the end of the ski, i'm just saying that its poor business to change something like that on your customers withouth any notice

dude no warrenty cover rails, cause you could go and be doing urban rails and have them snap on the stairs or something, its not the skis fault its yours but most warrenties dont even cover jumps and stuff like that 4frnt does so 4frnt is the safest choice.

i dont know man, bubbles in the topsheet? that sounds like a defect to me. id email your case to 4frnt and see what they can do. unless you have treated your skis like shit they should cover that shit id imagine.

the first day i skied my msps they were awesome- but at the end of the day i looked at the top sheet and it was chippping like crazy. i heard that they may have changed that on the new msp though.

bubbles on the top sheet is a factory defect u should beable to get them warrentied no problem. and just for the record most companies dont cover skis snapping ither

i could be wrong on this but from what i heard from a guy at mammoth, 4frnt says that they have two year warrenty right? well this guy told me that after 1 year they'll replace them and give you new pair. however in the second year of riding them, if you break em, they will only give a new pair to you at wholesale price which last year was 375 or so. that might be an ok deal but he said he wasnt sure if they actually gave you a pair for the first year cause he heard of people haveing to pay the wholesale in the first year of riding them.

4frnt is still the best choice, my friends topsheet on his 1080's on the 3rd day using them came completely off. salomon didnt warrent them, they just said hey were to rich to do that so go away cause we dont care a bout you petty freeskiers. man i hate salomon

yeah unless the bubbles com from you smackin a rock or hittin your base on somethin hella hard, my common sense tells me that bubbles in the topsheet is a bad thing. means that there's air in their, meaning that part of the topsheet is very weak, allowing the topsheet to crack and chip off easier at minimal impact, thus exposing the wood core, wood core gets water in it 'thats snow for all us dumbasses :)' rots the wood core, water can make the wood core expand and weaken. complicated process, may be long or short, but it all falls into place. I think you should be gettin warranty from the info. i've been told.

actually when they first came out, their warranty said nothing about not covering damage from rails, and i havent even skiied on the skis yet by the way, i just noticed the bubbles when i got em home. and in their warranty now, its specifically says something about not covering indentations in the topsheet or base. i really would like to know if anyone else has this problem, cause if its more than just me, it would be much easier to have something done about it

4FRNT will not replace skis due to -'...scratches, chips, cosmetic blemishes or indentations on the topsheet, sidewalls, edges or bases...'

(when you think about it a cosmetic blemish can be even as small as a fingerprint... you dont need skis warrentied over something that small, that doesnt affect the ski's performance...)

To my knowledge, this warrenty page has been up and stayed the same since the skis were shipped out last fall. So it's NOT like 4FRNT is saying one thing, sending the skis out, then changing their word. They are making a good ski, at a good price with a good warrenty. (you said yourself, that you loved the ski, i bet you still love them, because its the same ski, just the topsheet changed.)

You have to realize that all skis will wear down, some faster than others, this is unavoidable. I have had other brands of skis, where the tips break and fall off, snapped skis in half, edges fall off...etc. Little bumps on the topsheet are not that bad... my 4FRNTS are the only ski i have ever had make it through the whole season. From start to finish i never had to use another ski, i could still go use mine today after 100+ days on snow with rails and jumps everyday... that is a damn durable ski.

If the bubbles or indents are just little ones in the topsheet, then they arent harming the performance of the ski at all, so why would you need them replaced?

4FRNT is a good company, distributing a great ski, and they ARENT not doing anything to cheat or screw their customers...

As for the situation justin the rule should be this ' every ski company manufacter is not on the customers side when it comes to shit like this, they are just gonna to come up with the best possible solution that suites them-which is just the way skiing works in the industry of freeskiing'

actually, i wanna kill this whole thread. after seeing this thread, a rep from 4FRNT took the time to look up my profile, get my email, and email me about my problem here. apparently haskel had been giving me some false info; he only sent one pair back with the same problem as mine, and they were warrantied. so no josh, 4FRNT isnt just out to make money, they really do care about satisfying their customers. and its not the visual stuff i am worried about with the skis, its the fact that bubbles in the topsheet weaken its construction. 4FRNT has been very quick to respond to any emails i sent them, and i will continue to support what they are doing. fred's freeride on the other hand, well, now i know why someone, i think anthony, made a thread a while back about boycotting them. he's just out to make money.

dude, i am not biased beacuse i am sponsored, i have always had the same views as in the post above... bottom line, skis cant/shouldnt be replaced because of topsheet blemishes... every company would go out of buisness, because every ski would have to be replaced. Next time you get a ski, look at it, dont matter what company, there WILL be a blemish or a nick or a scratch... 95% of skiers dont notice or even bother to look for them, but they are there, and that is the point, it doesnt affect the performance of the ski at all...
