Ipad can replace your deck... count me in

so i was thinking about replacing my deck with an ipad and googled it and heres what i found i was thinking an in-dash mount would be best



i am trying to do this with my truck and i am just wondering if anyone else has tried or knows people who have tried this

even if you have the 3g one. you have to pay just to get the service. im not double paying for satellite radio when basic radio is free. and no CD player. just get a deck man.

why would i listen to the radio or satellite when i have a library full of music that i like and want to listen to instead of hearing a song i like once in a while on the radio

then why dont you just get an auxiliary adapter to hook your ipod up with? Get the deck. Youll have EQ options on it too which will help if you get a system in your truck. Yes, I know the ipad has eq options too, but its a joke. Save yourself money man. If all your looking for is songs just get an adapter

to have your own personalized music library with your taste in music not a random radio mix, also you can download navigation tools, but if you cant drive with any type of distraction don't do it, maybe get off the road.

again, your going to have to double pay for those nav apps. One for the 3g per month and one for the initial app. Its a waste of money

then don't get it man, im just position what i think and what i want to do, im not trying to convince anyone to do this i was wondering if anyone has seen anyone with this set-up. i already have a 64 g with a bell card just lying around at my house so all i am paying for is the app which will be 10 dollars at the most so it might not be the right choice for you but its an option for me

i can have my own personalized music on my ipod and i'm happy with my gps that has a 3" screen.

i worry less about myself when i drive than i do other people. i can handle distractions, i wish i could say the same about the majority of drivers, but most of them suck so bad already that a slightly bigger screen would just lead to even shittier driving

i am sick of the ipod gig it gets annoying with not enough plug ins for nav system ipod adapter and radar detector, but ya i guess you're right but people need to understand their restrictions and limits

im not going to get it. im just throwing down the obvious that this is a money pit. The app goes for around 50 bucks. then just to run the app you have to pay 30$ a month for the 3g. thats 70 bucks on the spot. About as much as it costs to buy a tomtom one which does the same exact thing. one month later your paying 30 bucks again. now you just paid $100 when you couldve gotten a One for 30 bucks cheaper. and so on and so forth. I understand what your saying. I admit its pretty cool to have an iPad as your deck, but its just not practical. Your going to spend more money over time then you would if you bought a new deck, gps, and ipod together when all three of those things do it for a one time price. Im not trying to be a dick man. you wanted to see if you should do it, but theres cons to everything. On the other hand if you have a ton of money, go right ahead. Itll look awesome

Naw ur phone will work fine. I have the droid x and all i do is use my aux output on my headunit plug it into my phone and i have all my music and gps right there. Mostly hands free as well since the gps will just talk through the speakers no need for screen
