Hellbents vs Bibby Pros vs SFBs

Seems like a tough one for me this year.  I want a huge ski that's on the softer side and that I can also dick around the mountain with.  They all seem to fit the profile.

bents are reverse camber and they are soft

bibbys have rocker in the tips and tails and have camber underfoot, they are stiff

i dont know about sfb

Bibbys aren't stiff. Stiffer than bacons and bents yes, but still pretty soft.

Out of those three, Bibbys get my vote. Stiffer than the other two, so better once its tracked out, but still rockered and fun to mess around on. Plus Moments have solid construction.

Tell us more about what you want, what type of skier you are and hight and weight..

Prob dont need to ask this because the awnser to all what ski to get topics can be Bibby's.. Thats just because they can do it all..

Note that this years Bibby's all have the same flex and camber patern as last years 190's..wich is a good thing if you ask me, Sizes; 174,184 & 190

i'm quite sure the hellbent isn't reverse cambered, they have rocker in tip and tail and some camber underfoot for edgehold, i think they call it powder rocker or something; check out the k2 website....

both hellbent and sfb are noodles, hellbent is more powder oriented noodle where sfb is more all-mountain noodle (not very park, but for variable snow)

and bibby is from what i heard more of a charging ski ?

In the 190, yes. in the shorter lengths no. Last year the 186 and the 190 were pretty different. I'm assuming the same will hold for the 184 and 174 for 10/11.

last years bibys were in sizes 186 and 190 and the 186 is three mm skinnier than the 190, and the 190 has a bit more camber

i can only comment on bacons and bents because i havent skied bibbys. if this is going to be a quiver of one go with bacons over bents. bents are fun to dick around on in the pow but skiing everyday on them would suck...they are just way to soft and the comments saying they feel like soggy cardboard is sorta true. Bacons, at least the non rockered ones, kill just about every condition in the PNW and would be my choice as a quiver of one.

pretty sure it's major rocker in tip/tail w/ zero camber (ie. flat) underfoot.

well i hate to go by freeskiers specs but in last years gear guide it shows the different cambers and shit, and and it shows a diagram of reverse camber and it says k2 hellbent

The flex on last year's 190 = flex of this year's 190, 184, and 174. It's universal now.

I have a pair of 189 Hellbents and love them to death.  I ski them basically any day I know I won't be spending much time in the park which is pretty frequently. 

Pros: Soft, stable feeling construction.  Easy to butter on for pow skis.  A lot of fun on the deep days.  I personally think they are fun to ski even on hardpack.

Cons: Pretty poor swing-weight which makes sense.  Can be a bit terrifying straight-lining stuff.

If you think you can handle a change in the feeling of the ski, the Hellbents are a lot of fun.  There are some people that really only like Hellbents in powder, if at all.

Based on what you are looking at, check out the on3p caylors. They fit the profile of the hellbents and on3p is sick

It is not totally reverse canber, and they kinda do feel dead, although i'm a bigger guy so take that w/ a grain of salt

Cool, good to hear.

I'm guessing Moment is trying to turn the bibby into more of a charging type ski, and keep the Night Train as the BC jib ski? That would make sense to me.

Having owned all 3 at one point, the Bibbys are the most versatile. I sold off the bacons and hellbents, but i couldnt bring myself to get rid of my bibbys.

I believe so. There were a ton of kids trying to decide between the 186 Bibby and the 186 Night Train that it was probably best to differentiate those two skis in that size.

Bibby's are definitely stiff. Bents and bacons are noodles in comparison.

I def do not want a stiffer ski...I compared bacons and hells in the shop today and I must admit the hellbents are pretty damn heavy, noticeably more than the bacons. Like the bacons were 3/4 (I think this is fact) as heavy and the flex seemed way slightly softer but more pop...like the diff between bending a piece of wood vs a piece of sheet metal (more "life" in the wood). Plus the hellbents are so fucking huge now they must be even heavier.

Yeah, i've heard from some people who have demoed bents that they felt "lifeless" if that makes any sense. They are redesigned to be more powder specific this year though so they probably ski differently now, in any case, if you want a soft pow/all mountain ski with versatility i would say the bacons would be a good choice, just don't expect to be effortlessly charging though the crud on them though, they're pretty soft.

I've never skied either but I know for a fact that the bibby is much much stiffer.

I have a pair of 186 bibbys and they are definitley not stiff, they are stiffer underfoot and softer in the tips and tails, there definatley a bc jib ski.

The new bibbys with the 190 flex are going to be stiffer but they are still a bc jib ski there just going to be able to ski lines and charge a bit more than they used to.

Out of all of them I would definitely try and get some 186 Bibbys,  sure bacons or bents will be fun and I have often considered buying them but the bibbys have a little bit more versatility in my opinion and will give you more options, i think I would a bit annoyed sometimes that I can just do some different style of skiing than floppy pollard pansiness (i think hes sick and love his style but Id get bored being that chilled and hipster all the time)

Best of all though try and demo them, and find out what suits you best.

You should try them before making judgements:) You might be surprised. They were not redesigned to be more powder specific, they were redesigned to be bigger. You can still do everything on them.

I compared all three at the shops today, and the Bibby's are mad sick, perfect flex plattern, really seem like they could handle some very very aggressive skiing. Funny on the inspection sticker the dude wrote "pleeeeease ride these hard". They were suuuper light too, I was amazed. The 190 is noticably heavier and stiffer for that reason I guess. The 184s seem perfect I can't imagine what they won't slay (park excluded, sorta)
