I just got a new camera and I want a lens for it. I want to know what is better fish eye of wide angle, I know it kinda opinionated but if you have any video that is just fish eye or just wide angle post it.
Thanks
a fisheye will give u the barrel(sp?)distrtionn type look where a wide angle will give u a wider prospective to shoot with little to no barrel distortion
its really personal preference
Will this be your only lens for a while? If so I would aim for something more in the standard range. If you're set on one of the two, I'd go wide angle over fish eye. Fish eye is only good for so many shots, wide angle is better for general use by comparison.
Anyway, I know I can't make a fisheye look "good" - some people can. Unless you have that distortion and vig in mind when you're envisioning your shots, just go for the WA - it'll do the same job, just not look weird.
if it's for camera, you should probably read up on f/stops and lens manufacturing quality before you choose a lens. a good wide angle that isn't like f/8 is going to cost you upwards of $700. a fisheye, regardless of manufacture (again, that isn't a screw-on piece of shit from eBay), will cost the same.
get a wide angle. It can be hard to make a fisheye look good with video. They can be awesome for architecture/timelapses, but even then I feel wide angles are better for that stuff most of the time anyway.
ive done work with a fish eye and it's cool for like certain shots and for cool low angled fallow cams.. but for over all filming, a wide angle lens is way more enjoyable.
