I absolutely love my old Salomon Foil boots but they have definitely seen better days. I bought them used and I put an additional 5+ seasons on them. I thought about a new liner, but the shell is leaking and probably could use an upgrade anyway. My question is, do the SPKs fit the same as the foils did? Has anyone put on both? I am only asking because my local shop doesn't carry them so I can't try them on. My Foils fit beautifully and if the SPK or other Salomon boots fit the same as the foils, Ill look for some online.
I rode salomon foils before purchasing my spks last year, great boots. The spks are a decidedly more park-oriented upgrade on the foils, they position you in a much more upright as opposed to forward leaning position, which makes skiing switch much easier. They seem to be softer after broken in, and combined with the more-upright positioning some all-mountain performance is lost, but the added cushioning and especially the rubber toe piece make up for it. If you have a foot thats on the wider side or a really good bootfitter the spk is a great step up from the foil, and the fit is relatively similar.
Where do you get that out of, the boots fit similar? Read the end of the last line. I prefer wider boots and if the width is similar to the foils that I already like, then how is it different. The first post stated the spks are a few mm wider which I am completely fine with. As long as the change isnt huge then I will be happy.
My feet are both different due to breaking both of them. My right foot is snug width wise (barely) in my boot and left is perfect with one pair of socks on. As long as they are not too narrow, I could wear one right sock and two left to compensate. My only concern was narrower or shorter BSL
