Really though, Nimbus means the world to me. If I had the time or energy, I would embed every video they have produced on this page.
I have always been a huge skier but Nimbus came to me at a time during my development where I was just getting into the larger scene of skiing. I was just starting to watch ski movies and learn who all the pros were and what they specialized in etc. I saw an ad for Hunting Yeti and I went to Rip.tv and got the first webisode. Holy shit it blew my mind! Suddenly everything made sense.
All the directions skiing seemed to pull me at once were nicely combined into one style. There were park tricks, big mountain, and most importantly there were feet upon feet of powder.
I loved the Hunting Yeti year because it was fresh and new, I loved the style, guys just chilling and skiing, it was more than getting the shot, it was the joy of being there skiing and being alive. Hunting Yeti literally changed my life. I worked a shitty minimum wage job the next summer and spent every dollar on a brand new pair of EP Pros with Dukes and other touring equipment.
I loved the Contrast year because it took me to far away places like Japan where I didn't know they got such epic powder or to the Alps steeped in rich ski tradition. Even the American segments made me lust for the open road to chase storms across the northwest even when spring is rapidly catching up to an aging winter.
I love this year because the camera work is better than ever, the jumps seem better constructed, the editing is much smoother and yet they've never lost the heart and soul that was there in the first year!
I have never seen a Nimbus video and been disappointed. I am dying to see Nomads in a few days! Nimbus has molded me as a person. If Nimbus hadn't come along, I would still be the weekend warrior without aim or direction. Because of Nimbus, I have stepped up my game, taken bigger chances, and invested myself physically and emotionally in the sport more than ever before. As a result, I am skiing with people I learn from (some pro, some not) and have made better life choices (Class or pow day? Life's too short, powder!)
This winter I'm working at a ski shop and skiing everyday I possibly can, meeting new people and learning new things and growing personally from it all.
What the Nimbus Crew films, I aim to live.
Sorry for the long post, had to do it.
