Digital Copies of Ski Movies?

I rememeber a thread was out there last year that asked nsers about whether they would rather pay for a digitial or dvd copy of ski movies? just wondering if any companies saw the light and are going to be releasing digital copies on itunes or some website of their videos as I would much rather pay for that than a dvd.

you know theyve been on itunes for at least a year right?

but while we're on the subject- will revolver and eye trip be released on itunes at the same time the DVD is released?

and Dendrite, which is actually only releasing the film on itunes.  (I believe, could be wrong about the exclusive).

I hope Dendrite and others release on service besides iTunes, because the windows version sucks shit if you don't have a Mac. I'd pay for just a raw download of the HD file, like with Nimbus En Route, you get an HD m4v file (h264 codec) that you can play fine in Windows.

Yes, i never buy ski movies because they cost a shit ton, id pay 5-10 bucks for a digital, HD copy. No more than 5 if it wasn't HD, id download a 3-5gb file if i had to for HD.

dude honestly i bet tons of people would be down for that.. i know i would. i just dont have the money to buy 3 or 4 movies every fall like i did when i was younger... cheaper digital copies would allow me to get a few rather than 1 or 0 every year

Would like to see all the mainstream ski vids from the likes of level 1, PBP, Matchstick, TGR, Nimbus and maybe a few more...

Also it would be cool if you could be more specific for the digital downloads. are they 720p, 480p.... what the ipod format is... DVD or Bluray quality and so on....

ye man for sure having them all in a central location would be so sick. I just can't justify paying for a dvd copy that will get scratched or lost in a month or two. Digital is the future. $5-15 is a reasonable price for a ski movie anyways, like on the powder site.

Am i the only person that prefers to have a hard copy, with all the packaging and stuff to just having a digital copy? its just a personal thing but i like to have something tangible. i like a box and inserts and whatnot that are cool. Its kindof like CDs verses itunes music, to slightly lesser extent. I will never buy music from iTunes. Having the hard copy, the artwork, everything else just seems so much nicer. feels more like something with substance i guess. its hard to explain and its really just kinda my preference.

That being said, if NS had movies for dl in the store, i would probably buy them occasionally to save money.

try keeping them in good condition though in a house full of gear, people, drunks, and dirtbag skiers. I know what your saying but its just not tangible and htey take up so much space.

i prefer digital copies as i prefer to simply double click on any movie i want from the last ten years.. rather than go through a stack of dvd cases, insert the disk, wait for it to load, go through the dvd title menu and so on...

even dvds ive bought ill usually upload to my computer.. its just easier imo

but u have a valid point, matter of preference

here's the thing dude, i agree with you, it's fun to have a hard copy, a nice case, a cool insert maybe, whatever, its nice to have a physical copy. but after like 50 ski movies, 49 of which ive lost permanently due to scratching, at like 20-30 bucks a pop my preferences have changed a bit. i can totally dig that you like having the actual copy

yeah i definitely like to have something tangible, not to mention digital copies typically dont have the bonus, which is more than typically almost as good as the movie with some companies, but i definitely would also download a few so that i could see more. like last year bout pbp 4bi9 and level 1, but then got rage on itunes for like 6 bucks which is real convenient. pretty good was dope too, for the record.
