ive gotten about 25 days on the hill each of the last three seasons and being a senior this could be my last full season so i'd like to get the most out of it. Ive been thinking about joining some type of team but not sure how to go about that, so does anyone have any suggestions? I looked at joining the cu ski team but its 700 dollars and im not sure if thats what im looking for anyways. basically i just want to ski more and get better, i was thinking about maybe like a mogul team or something
Manage your free time? I mean I wish I could sound more intuitive but as a HS student you can pretty much figure out what days you won't be busy; weekends and holidays, and if you're lucky a snowday. Ski on as many of those 3 types of days off as you can, and you will be satisfied
Why don't you just shred with your friends on weekends and over holidays? Maybe through a couple backyard weekday night sessions and you can easily ski 50+ times.
Some schools have home release so you can get off at 1230 every day. I'm in the same situation as you at the moment. But the home release is what I'm doing. Talk to your counselor about it and see what you can do.
Senior year of college i managed to get 52 days while working part time, going to school full time, and partying full time. I was an hour away from my home mtn as well. You are close to the mtns as well and I assume you get a winter break. You just have to schedule you classes wisely, and utilize that winter break. It's really all up to you to decide how your going to get out more.
join your schools ski club - 1 day a week + a discounted pass
join another schools ski club - 1 day a week
ski both days in the weekend, don't do anything social at all unless it involves being on the mountain - 2 days a week
ski whenever you can after school, I go every day because my bus drops me at my home mountain, you might not be that lucky or just drive. Either way fuck homework and go skiing, do it in the morning, in study halls, and in classes. - 1-3 days a week. Now you might care more about your grades then you do so you might not be able to get 3 days a week after school so try to get at least 1, work ahead so you can go. (P.S, I still got a 2.9 GPA with skiing basically everyday after school + the weekends. I don't know how I kept up with it)
That could give you a 7 day ski week. I had this last year and it was great. Of course there were days you missed but still .
Why is this possibly your "last full season" anyways?
Because you think you need to get a job and be productive? Maybe if you have gnarly student loans, but work on getting a job somewhere like Denver where you can still have a season isn't too hard.
as most people have stated, skiing pretty much every day that you dont have school is how your going to rack up the days. Might be a lot of driving, but you have to decide if its worth it for you. If it is, than thats really all there is to getting to more often. im in school this year and im shooting for 100 days, which is conservative given my current plan. That being said i do have a fairly light course load right now. even with just weekends vacations though, you shouldbe able to get 60-70.
